At LGA this morning.
Griffie@reddit
N number says 737
Grey_worm_25@reddit
I think it’s belonging to McKenna
jawfish121@reddit
It always cracks me up that they paint BBJ’s like RVs
samman445@reddit
Oh my god you’re right. It’s bad
Pantycrustlicker@reddit
It looks like a Microsoft flight sim livery
PoolRamen@reddit
Its always the hypergeneric swoopy schemes too, not even the cool 70's RV's
I have to asume it's a vestige of them having some degree of anonymity before the advent of Flighttracker etc
mikePTH@reddit
OMG, I just pictured an amazing alternate universe where biz jets are sea-foam over tan and have a sick mural of a wolf in front of a waterfall howling at the moon or an eagle perched on the handlebars of a Harley Davidson or whatever on the vertical stabilzer.
PoolRamen@reddit
I was thinking more the minimalist asymmetrical stripes lol but that would definitely be a statement
mikePTH@reddit
You know we both want this.
Eat-It-Harvey-@reddit
When I get my BBJ, it's going to have the A-Team van livery
chuckop@reddit
If you hire me as the pilot, I’ll get a Mohawk and get PITY and FOOL tattooed on my knuckles.
xyz19606@reddit
But would you actually get on the plane w/o being knocked out?
chuckop@reddit
Yes! But I would pretend to be scared.
chuckop@reddit
Essentially they are RVs. Just like a rich guy with a big RV towing a trailer with a Jeep and/jet-ski and hiring a driver.
Boeing Business Jets cater to the same type of people. Just ones with much bigger wallets.
All money, no creativity.
Complete_Physics_947@reddit
Well in a way they are just big rvs with wings
jawfish121@reddit
Wheels, engines, windscreen, bathroom, millionaires. You know what, you are right!
superimu@reddit
It's founder of Beanie Babies' jet. He's a billionaire. Apparently, there was a lot of money in small plush toys.
Truji11o@reddit
Yeah well just wait until I sell my collection!
schonleben@reddit
Shouldn't it have a heart tag dangling off of its winglet?
JustinSalts@reddit
Without it, there’s no way it’s genuine.
Antelope-Subject@reddit
Yep Plane McPlane face born 1998. RARE
AEZ_2187@reddit
I mean there still is. Look at the dumb labubu fad.
No_Greed_No_Pain@reddit
Too bad commercial helipads are prohibited on the top of Manhattan buildings, otherwise he'd go straight to the Four Seasons on 57th which he also happens to own.
BackgroundGrade@reddit
Well, technically, you don't have to touch down to board/unboard a helicopter. So, there is technically, no helipad needed.
The "not actually landing" thing is used in heli-skiing alot.
josephtrocks191@reddit
I've gotta imagine there's some kind of regulation about not doing that in NYC too
firstcity_thirdcoast@reddit
He also bought the $40mm penthouse unit in the Chicago Spire in 2007-8 (never built), which would have been the highest residence in the Western hemisphere at the time.
BigGrayBeast@reddit
Another ten years my investment in them will pay off so I can retire at 80! /s
viperlemondemon@reddit
Just not when they got to us
Hot_Net_4845@reddit
Ty Air's. It's N888TY
McCheesing@reddit
Do you think it’s natty?
ohlookahipster@reddit
‘TY’ is probably Ty Warner’s name who owns the plane. Same dude who owns Beanie Babies and the Four Seasons resorts.
looking187@reddit
He lives in the SB area, that’s why it’s there so often. It’s not the manager he was having issues with it was four seasons corporate. He didn’t want to pay the licensing during Covid when they were closed so he shuttered the hotel for going on 7 years now.
atmosphereair@reddit
Mine. Why you asking?
WntrWltr@reddit
I'll never understand BBJs. After working on my fair share they just make no sense. They are slower than a Gulfstream or Global, have worse customer support (because you're not a big airline), and direct operating costs are significantly higher and your available airports are limited due to being over 100k lbs (ie: no Teterboro). Sure you have a full sized bed on board, but a G700 has a higher cruise speed, lower cabin altitude, and longer range.
Swimming_Way_7372@reddit
Even the g700 is limited at some airports and certainly in many GA hangars that already had trouble stuffing in a 650. This is where the g800 is designed to capture that part of the market.
WntrWltr@reddit
That's exactly why the 659 I manage is turning into an 800!
ALE-YEA@reddit
Keep them parts! You’ll see a lot of 60P part numbers on the 800. 🫡
Old_Goat_Cyclist@reddit
My cousin (who does not know I exist anymore) got an early one registered in Denmark with a stylized ballet dancer on the trail. It did not last long. The operating costs were staggering and there were huge limitations on what airports would handle a 737 size private aircraft.
I have no idea what she uses today.
AtariFerrariNH@reddit
You're not wrong, but nothing beats square footage. The BBJ is big enough that you can send the kids to their room, and they actually have a room to go to.
But you are wrong about the customer support, there are tons of parts stocked around the world, which is normally the weak link in the support chain. Plus the airplane is made for 10,000 hours of flying a year, and has a robust MEL/CDL that enables dispatch reliability.
TowardsTheImplosion@reddit
I wish my year had 10,000 hours in it...
ohlookahipster@reddit
It’s Ty Warner who flies a lot into Santa Barbara so I think that was the only major consideration is if it could land there lol.
Vinowagon@reddit
I've see 747s land at SB airport in the 80's and 90's when Tracor was active. The main runway was barely long enough. They'd shut down the road at the approach side for the big jets and they looked like they barely cleared the fence coming in. Awesome to see.
WntrWltr@reddit
We just needed to get our hands on a T/R controller, it took effort just short of an act of God to get a hold of a new LRU. There are plenty of suppliers but they don't prioritize individual operators the same was that companies like Gulfstream/Bombardier/Dassault do.
AtariFerrariNH@reddit
Interesting, I figured the parts support would be better, Shows what I know!
DebtUpToMyEyeballs@reddit
...And given the higher price, odds are that the owner doesn't care about paying the higher landing fees at a city's major airport (e.g. LGA) instead of the usual secondary business-focused airports (e.g. Teterboro.)
bradforrester@reddit
Oh that’s where I left that.
froebull@reddit
Someone with a lot of money, and poor taste. That's one ugly aircraft.
Alone_Move_4266@reddit
Nice plane

SheriffMoney@reddit
Ty Warner, inventor of the beanie baby. I’ve worked on this plane a bit. Very dated and frankly tacky interior, worked with the guy who was responsible for the initial VVIP completion of it too.
stametsprime@reddit
I’ve been on board, too. He designed the interior himself, which further proves that it should really be left to professionals.
stametsprime@reddit
I’ve been aboard this jet. The interior is wild.
(No, I do not have pictures.)
SuperiorTuba@reddit
Oh, damn sorry - didn't mean to leave my jet out there.
My bad, I'll just get it out of here real quick...
TheRussianBear420@reddit
Its that one person’s
reckless_responsibly@reddit
I fully realize that they probably want some degree of anonymity, but I still wish there was a "Ty" heart for tail art on this.
zed42@reddit
that's mine! i lost it in the couch cushions back in '15 and haven't been able to track it down! thanks for finding it! :D
Mimshot@reddit
What’s that on the nose?
wood_x_beam@reddit
Oh, shoot. Sorry, it's mine. I'll move it.
tony2x@reddit
Oh that's mine! I've been looking for it, I forgot where I parked.
GC_Aus_Brad@reddit
Ahhh that's where I left it, I'll have to drop by and pick it up.
chuckop@reddit
Dumb question: what’s the forward-looking thing under the windscreen?
FZ_Milkshake@reddit
Collins Enhanced Vision System
basically a set of (infrared) cameras integrated into the HUD, lets you approach with lower minimums in bad weather.
chuckop@reddit
Thank you! I always figured those systems were installed under the nose.
FZ_Milkshake@reddit
Even on top of the nose, the view downwards is at least as good as out of the windows, for a civilian aircraft that is more than enough.

Sir we need you to move your aircraft. It's in a loading zone.
JF0909@reddit
There is no parking in the white zone
WarkMahlberg69@reddit
The white zone is for loading and unloading only
jonwfd65@reddit
Don’t give me any of your Red Zone $hit

We all know the real reason…

It’s really the only sensible thing to do, if it’s don’t properly
