Why is your popcorn yellow?

Atleast here in Europe as much as I know we only eat like white popcorns and in cinemas is white too

Plain popcorn is white. Buttered popcorn (not all but many) is yellow because of colorants in the butter flavoring, which is usually not real butter. My household just buys the Orville Redenbacher naturals, lightly salted, and I add my own melted butter. It just looks white.
It’s always going to depend on the brand.

Depending on the variety it can be a pale yellow color.
Porcupine-in-a-tree@reddit
We have white popcorn too. Yellow butter popcorn is just one option.

Do you guys not put butter on your popcorn?...
If yellow confuses you wait until you find out we caramel, cinnamon, chocolate, cheddar and other flavors that change the color of the popcorn too.
Ok_Gas5386@reddit
WE don’t put butter on our popcorn. It’s artificially flavored, artificially colored canola oil and seasoned salt.
If we put actual butter on the popcorn it would be white

But real butter isnt always white it CAN be...but not always. I only use real butter and it's definitely yellow, now it will change shades depending on the season the milk was collected but it is yellow....
Now I will say movie theater butter is probably closer to butter flavorings than anything close to being real

Butter and butter flavor my guy.
CupBeEmpty@reddit
Specifically it’s usually beta carotene that makes it yellow which is just the precursor your body makes into vitamin A.
So it’s not even some spooky chemical.

Sounds like something that would turn the frogs gay, but ok.

Carrots are know for being quite homosexual coded.

It's covered in butter.
Ok_Gas5386@reddit
There’s literally no butter on it

"Butter"
Ok_Gas5386@reddit
lol perfect comment, with all these people saying it’s the butter. Melted butter does not turn things fluorescent yellow, people, that’s the additives
Ok_Gas5386@reddit
Chemicools 😎
Make it from scratch and it’s white
Capable-View4706@reddit

Buttered popcorn. You should try it sometime
reddock4490@reddit
Movie theater popcorn in Europe is just as white with yellow flavored sauce as it is in America, lol
Icy_Huckleberry_8049@reddit
we have white popcorn, too.
rollerfedora@reddit
“Butter” flavour and colour (adjusted the spelling for our international audience).
And the movie theater butter is just canola oil.
SensibleBrownPants@reddit
We eat yellow popcorn when we run out of orange popcorn.
curious_eyebrow@reddit
The real answer is that our popcorn is generally NOT yellow. It is usually white as one would expect. SOME popcorn is dyed yellow, usually in conjunction with artificial butter flavoring. This is commonly seen in movie theaters or cheap bagged popcorn.
indifferentunicorn@reddit
Yo mamma’s popcorn so white I can believe it’s not buttah!
nessthing@reddit
Beta carotene as food coloring in the popping oil to make it appear like it’s covered in melted butter. It has not been popped in or topped with butter though.
Zestyclose-Phrase210@reddit
I'm from Massachusetts, so it's the buddah that makes it yellow.
