It's the premier hospital in Europe for eye treatment. If you have been referred there you should be going.
Also, high eye pressure can lead to irreversible damage to your eyes and optic nerve. You should not delay on this.
Moorfields has a clinic devoted to just glaucoma . As a patient there the only complaint is that they can sometimes move a bit fast but they are very motivated to save your eyesight.

Can you recommend me a good doctor there? I heard about Gus Gazzard. Thanks

Are you a British citizen...?
How do you intend accessing the hospital....?
Do you understand how the UK health system works...? Do you have a GP in the UK...?

If I'm not a British citizen, can't I go to a good doctor in England?
Which-World-6533@reddit
If you're not a British citizen you should first be talking to doctors in your home country.

I already do this, I’m looking for a good doctor in England/EU

I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my eyes tbh. I was referred there for a check up as I was getting a shadow on my left eye. The environment was a bit rough as there was building work taking place when I went in 2024.

I go to the A&E there fairly regularly (have a condition that risks detaching my retina) and had my eyes lasered there privately. It’s quite a long process getting through the various stages and rooms of A&E, but once I’ve made it to the consultant at the end, they’ve always been very good.

My mom was relatively happy with her treatments there (fixing of a retinal hole and two separate cataract surgeries) and my mom was never happy with her treatments anywhere. In 30+ years of my life, Moorfields was the only place she had any sort of medical or dental procedure where she didn’t have any major complaints.
(Minor complaints, yes - they drew on my face (that’s normal, it ensures they don’t operate on the wrong eye), it took all day (yep, that happens), it’s frustrating to have to go to London for follow-ups (I agree), isn’t there a bus from Old Street Station to the hospital? (probably, but it’s like a 10-minute walk, blame me if you must but not the hospital), the food in the cafeteria was unappealing (I walked to the McDonald’s and brought her back a chicken burger), there wasn’t enough air conditioning (I agreed on this point), why do we have to go to Tottenham for the next follow-up instead of the normal place? (I actually don’t know about this one, that was slightly annoying).)
If my mom was unable to find anything to complain about when it came to her care there, I feel safe saying they’re pretty damn good.

Moorfields is the place you should go to for anything eye-related in Europe, at the very least.

Moorfields has some of the leading glaucoma specialists in the world.
I am not a patient at Moorfields but a specialist did work along side mine (St Paul’s Liverpool) to help with a treatment option for me - I had multiple eye conditions one being glaucoma. I didn’t have a long wait but again I had a few serious diagnoses so couldn’t realistically wait.
Privately you’ll be seeing the same doctors as on NHS just probably a bit quicker.
You won’t find much better in the UK

It's the eye hospital in the UK
saltwatersunsets@reddit
It’s the oldest specialist eye hospital in the world, frequently ranked among the top ophthalmic institutions globally, known for pioneering research and treating rare or complex eye conditions. It’s rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC. You may find examples of people who haven’t been happy with their care there, but it’s unlikely you have ‘better’ options available to you - in the UK, doctors undertaking private work must also be NHS doctors and it’s highly likely that if you go private you’ll be treated by the one the same consultants you might see anyway, only for a shorter wait and higher cost. If waiting time is a priority though, you might consider the private route worth it but the treatment itself is likely to be the same.
