Shipping of E-bike battery

Hello,
I have bought an e-bike battery from GreenCell and it is shipped from Poland to Finland. It has However, I have to return it. The company is accepting the return (within 30 days) and asked me to "use the cheapest shipping method, but make sure that the package is registered (tracked) and provide them with the tracking number after".
The battery was delivered by GLS, but the same company cannot offer the transport now, claiming it is too powerful. Wasn't it powerful when I purchased? How come it reached to me but I can't use the same service? Am I missing something? How can I return the product back to the producer? I'd appreciate if someone could help!

Good thing its only the battery. Try returning a whole ebike. It's almost impossible and most have a no refund policy if you have opened the box

They might getting paid NOT to ship it!
The parent company just might have a limited one-way shipping contract.

If you have any written communication from GLS, send it to the company's customer support department, and ask for recommended supplier. (In the same time you can look for alternative delivery company who accept bettery transport.)
If they faced this problem too, they might know alternative transport method, or request different process, such as recycling (and ask for a bill/note from an official recycler as proof).

Google recommends UPS and DHL international as they can handle certain dangerous goods. I have used UPS in the past for goods which contain lithium batteries in the past (laptops and wireless 3D scanners), but nothing with an e-bike sized battery.
You should declare what type of item you are shipping because they will likely have to transport in a non conventional manner for them. E-bike batteries are not allowed on air freight, so you will have to pay more than usual for shipping prices.
There is also protocol for shipping lithium batteries like discharging the battery down to 30% charge, making sure it is turned off, covering any terminals, using the correct type of packaging, and having the correct labelling on the packaging.
