Took my first ride to work!

As the title says, I grew a pair and took my first trip to work and I'm happy with this little piece of shit, it handled very nicely and I only used about half the battery.
One thing I really need is a basket for the back, it was hard shoving all my stuff into my backpack, but I managed well enough.
A coworker did mention that I should add mirrors to it and I did, they came in clutch because all the shoulders in my area are covered in annoying pebbles.
Beyond the much needed basket, what else should I invest into in order to make this bike easier to live with?

Just a suggestion, I would recommend getting a separate headlight and a separate rear light, that way when riding at night or early morning you don't use up your battery to light the road. I was able to get a lil more juice out of mine by doing that.
If you get get a basket, which you should, use REUSABLE zip ties to strap down the basket. That way you dont have to keep cutting and needing new zip ties if you wanna remove the basket for a ride.

Been commuting for many years on e bike - 64 km both ways - quicker on bike than car (ridiculous!) - I started off with backpack - quickly morphed to bike carrier on the back - waaay more easy on my back - mirrors probably one of the best things to add - I am dead without my mirrors - water bottle - important to stay hydrated specially for us 'only fair-weather' riders - that sun can get quite hot - in the beginning days I used my Gopro a lot and I have heard that some folk use one all the time in case they have to prove liability if involved in an accident - but I found that keeping a positive attitude (and a very 'always-wary' eye on motorists) I have avoided (touch wood) accidents completely - varying my route to and from is also quite important to me - your bike can go places where cars can't (used trails a lot in the beginning - but flat tires aplenty have cured me of it) - I have an app so I can keep a really cool log of my rides and knowing all the time how much money I save by biking has been awesome (besides the obvious health stuff :) ) - in my carrier I have a spare tube, some tools for changing a flat ... your'e on your way - best decision you made :) (specially flying past all those poor suckers stuck in traffic) - and most important smile and enjoy being 12 again for as long as possible.

You might want to look into pannier bags instead of or in addition to a basket. I have a 50 liter set on my e-bike and I can fit so many groceries in these things!
They also make backpacks that clip onto the cargo rack if you want something you can pop off and carry around hands free.
Make sure you get a good helmet and consider riding with a visible camera or two to keep drivers in line.

The backpack idea actually interests me, I was just gonna stuff it into the basket, but having a way to secure it and quickly disconnect and use it seems slightly better of an idea.
Can you send a link or something?
I am also considering panniers for the back sides, but my wheels are so cute and smol that I was worried about them possibly dragging on the ground.

Sure, I've got one from Priority/174Hudson https://www.prioritybicycles.com/products/174hudson-pannier-backpack
There's all sorts of options out there though. They also sell these huge bags that clip on, the best are Ortlieb Rollers but you can buy less expensive versions.

Good helmet if you don’t have one. Yes, a mirror on the left side is the most important so you can see who is coming up on you, I don’t have a right side mirror at all.
8.3 miles to work, that is pretty good, my minimum is 10 miles to work but is is VERY rare for me to only do 20 miles each day, I like to ride alternate routes that let me get more miles in, sometimes 14, 17 and even 21 miles each way, depending on how I feel after work.
Get some high visibility gear if you don’t already have some. I wear a high visibility jacket or shirt depending on weather. I high vishave a backpack cover in high visibility yellow with reflective strips and LED lighting built in. That along with the lights on my bike and the light built into my helmet makes me feel I have enough lighting to be as safe as possible, the only thing I fear is drivers not paying attention to the road, looking at their phones. I ride on some country roads with 55 Mph speed limits and I get off them ASAP!!!

I also have a 55 mph stretch of road I need to hop onto in order to get to and from work, it was extremely nerve wracking when a semi went past me.
I do have two blinking lights on the back, and the ebike has a very underwhelming front light, but it does whats on the tin, so I can't complain.
I am considering rear side panniers in combination with a basket for loose items for the back.
I also got an "decent" helmet, but it's used and temporary till I can afford a much nicer one, preferably with a built in visor.

A set of rechargeable rear / front lights. They are controlled by a remote to alert which way you're planning to turn

Have any suggestions or links?
