Looking for future proof update

Hi, want to get your opinion on this build as i am very outdated on current hardware specs.
I need an upgrade to DDR5 and a better CPU as i run my RTX 3090 on an i5-9500k...
Want to keep my GPU and PSU for now, this is what i came up with now after reading some builds and specs:
- AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk WiFi
- GPU: RTX 3090 24GB (already have)
- PSU: Dont remember but its modular with 1200W (already have)
Is there any reason i should get a Ryzen 9800 instead of the 7800?
I dont want to OC. I didnt include RAM as i will just buy the cheapest and fastest available when i need it. Dont need RGB.
I run a 4K Monitor already and maybe want to upgrade or add a 49" Monitor in the future.
Also im not really gaming anymore, but i want to be able ;-)
Do you see some immediate bottleneck here where i should just spend more money or you think its a safe build, considering to just change the GPU in two or three years?

Another point for B850 board, gets mandatory pcie gen 5 slot, even if doesn't matter much in real world performance, I'd personally prefer hwivng it for virtually no price dif.

cpu is enough. upgrade gpu

There is no such thing as future proofing. You end up spending more for what is top of the line now when in 3 years that stuff will sell for like 1/4th the price.

You definitely don't need a 9800 at 4K. In fact, the only real reasons to get the 9800/9850 at 4K are: (1) Money doesn't matter, you just want the best. (2) Overclocking (the 9000-series overclocks better than the 7000-series).
Maybe with a 5090, an overclocked 9850X3D sees better 1% lows than a 7800X3D at 4K at a level that's significant? I don't know. But I can't imagine there's any real difference at stock, and certainly not with a 3090.
If you're near Microcenter, just get their 7800X3D bundle, but if you're not, I'd either get a newer MBD or a cheaper one. Spending money on an old Tomahawk seems random to me - but I'm only not an MBD arcana guru, and maybe its VRMs are just that good.

Personally, I would get a better motherboard maybe a b850. Also that build is not that outdated ðŸ˜ðŸ˜

a good b650 isnt worse than a b850. an a 9500k is indeed outdated
Gravishminded@reddit
A b850 has better mandatory features, and is more modern. op wants a modern upgrade so b850 makes more sense.
five__head@reddit
it just depends on the model. mostly the best bang for buck is a good b650. yes a b850 is newer doesnt mean its best

I meant that i am outdated on what is available and the best bang for the buck. I look into the B850 Boards, thats probably a good upgrade for a few bucks. Thanks!

Since you're playing at 4K, you could comfortably go 7800X3D, 4K is really that GPU limited that I wonder how much you're gaining. Worth checking youtube for your specific product mix.

This is with a 4090, gap will be smaller with a 3090.
