Games started stuttering badly in the last couple weeks after running fine for over 2 years

hey. my pc is a ryzen 5 5600x with rtx 3070 and 32gb ram i built over 2 years ago. its been rock solid for 1440p gaming until recently. now some games have really bad stuttering and low 1% fps drops even though average fps looks okay. it comes and goes but its worse in newer titles.
i already did a clean gpu driver install with ddu, checked for windows updates, and monitored temps which stay fine. no new hardware or software added. could it be ram or storage wearing out or something else? what should i test next? thanks, its killing the experience.

Does Windows still slow down with age and need to be reinstalled? I haven't used Windows for a long time, but quite a while ago the slowdown was inevitable and you had to reinstall it.

check your temps under load, thermal paste dries out and causes throttling after a couple years

check ur storage health with crystaldiskinfo, a degrading ssd causes exactly this kind of intermittent stutter. also run xmp nd check ram is actually running at rated speed in bios, sometimes it resets. resizable bar being off can also cause 1% drops on newer titles

Sometimes u just got to do a clean install of windows, maybe a bios update or checking your SSD have u done any of these yet?

Was there a Windows Update you installed recently? Maybe try rerolling it or reinstall Windows.

Try installing gpu drivers from a few months ago and see if there's improvements.

Have you cleaned your PC at all? Did you repaste it? Might be thermal throttling also do a clean reinstall of windows usually it slows down due to all the bloat ware taking up your resources
