Indians: "first time?"
Edit: to comply with the 150 character rule, let me clarify; metropolitan areas have roving gangs of vigilantes in public areas, violently discouraging PDA or any overt displays of joy or celebration, and news of these incidents usually goes unreported unless it's topical, like on Valentine's Day or such.

How do Indian morality police cope with cricket matches?
fudgemental@reddit
Ooh this one is easy (and depressing). Cricket is heavily politicised in India.
Thelazytimelord257@reddit
Let’s not forget that right wing Hindu nationalists (terrorists) went in a private birthday party and harassed the Muslim attendees as well as the host
polymute@reddit
Oh, you guys have morality police too? Saudi Arabia and Kuwait I knew about.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_religious_police#Formal_legalized_enforcement_by_country
The list here doesn't have Kuwait, but they do have it (had it like 5 years ago when a friend did a university semester there).

'Police' is too strong a descriptor, these have more in common with incel thugs that hide behind concepts like 'traditional values' and 'de-westernization' and all that nonsense. Same fucks can't be bothered to decry rape or domestic abuse, but somehow consensual affection is jarring to them.
Alex09464367@reddit
This is 1984 IRL (in real life).
The fact that masked vigilante groups are busting into private birthday parties with police backing just to enforce traditional values is genuinely terrifying. Getting convicted of a crime over a neon light in a nightclub while the state actively encourages these goons is straight out of a dystopian novel. We are watching the Thought Police operate in real time.

Incoming downvotes form tankies
historydude1648@reddit
why would tankies care about today's Russia? dont they consider it a plutocratic imperialist state? tankie doesnt mean pro-Russian, they're about authoritarian socialism
Old_Wallaby_7461@reddit
Tankies always care more about Russia than about communism in the end
historydude1648@reddit
today's Russia? how does that make sense? every discussion of pro-Ussr people i've read online or in articles, magazines etc, paints today's Russia as just another capitalist country.
Czart@reddit
Are you new here? They're stroking it to russia every chance they get in this subreddit.
historydude1648@reddit
if you go to actual tankie subs like r/ussr and similar others, you will see a different picture
TheFriendshipMachine@reddit
Tankies, as a very broad generalization tend to not make a whole lot of sense if you take their beliefs at face value. They claim to be pro Communist but in reality many of them are really in it more for the Soviet aesthetics and the authoritarian elements of the USSR rather than the actual communist ideologies.
They also tend to fall into a very blind tribalistic view of the world where in they view the US/West as the biggest evils and therefore anyone who opposes them must inherently be the good guys which makes ignoring and excusing the problems that today's Russia has much easier. It's a large part of why they'll rush to whataboutisms whenever Russia gets called out for their actions.
Doesn't help that Russia also has their own state sponsored trolls out and about drumming up similar sentiments as well.
HKEY_LOVE_MACHINE@reddit
No, Russia is a glorious liberator of the people, all these negative traits you listed above are capitalist propaganda from the imperialist CIA.
The vast majority of tankies have pivoted to authoritarian anti-americanism decades ago, which is why they'll openly support any regime or armed group that proclaims to be anti-US, regardless of their relation with socialism.
They support Putin's Russia (kleptocracy hyper-capitalist hellhole, with no socialism), Iran (theocratic dictatorship, with very little socialism), China (hyper-capitalistic plutocracy with state control, with limited socialism), Assad's Syria (ethnocratic dictatorship, with no socialism), etc.
It was never about socialism, they only ever cared about having an authoritarian regime.
TraditionalGap1@reddit
I assume it's more anti-western sentiment than support of Russia as Russia. Probably a dose of warm feelings for the ghost of the USSR as well

Send these shitheads to the Donbass. See how much they support Mother Russia where it counts. Probably need to force them forward.
TearOpenTheVault@reddit
Russkaya Obshina strongly supports Russia's military operation in Ukraine. Last December, the group formed a joint military unit on the front line with members of the Espanola brigade, a regiment made up of far-right football fans that had already been sanctioned by the UK government.
They're a paramilitary group. Obviously they also fight.
