I have never used windows

The first OS I touched was ChromeOS, first real OS was Debian 12 in a VM inside of a container (crostini). This was all before I could even think of getting another computer. I can barely even remember why I turned on crostini, probably for programming because I was interested in it at the time & I still am.
When I did get a new computer just recently, it was on windows, locked to Chinese through the license (I got the laptop from China), but I was already intending to install Gentoo after having installed Gentoo on an old 15 year old windows computer lying around. So Linux was kind of a no-brainer for me, as can't use Chinese windows, & using windows is like transitioning to Linux for the normies, also, I was already engrained in the Linux environment, I loved Niri, even on the old 15 year old laptop.
Just wanted to share my story, more or less.

That’s actually a good question because most of the business world works off MS. (Like it or not.)

Is hating also an Option?
Gone2theDogs@reddit
Does hating help you? Seems like a waste of energy.
Not even sure what there is to dislike. It’s just different tools. Each has their strengths, weaknesses and advantages.

I have a pretty similar story though I have used Windows. We had a shared desktop computer at home that ran Windows but when I finally could afford my own computer in the fall of '99 I only used the pre-installed Windows for about 2 months before installing Linux on it and it's been my OS ever since. The only times I've dabbled with dual-booting was during a few years after StarCraft 2 launched and then for a few months during the pandemic when I was running Diablo 3 on an NVidia GPU. I was forced to use Windows at work for a few years after University as well but I've been on Linux at work full time since 2015 (and today I explain that Linux is a prerequisite for me already during the interview process for a new job).

This is cool!

Once you use Linux enough, you won't like Windows. 😄

I get your point, but you probably have used Win in some form and are using it to this day without realising it. Windows for pc is just one form, you can see Win used in cash machines, billboards, servers, etc..

Windows was okish in the 90s and 2000s. I use Windows and Linux parallel since I can think and consider Windows to complicated for what it does. Ironically it convinces "normies" to be less complicated (what I can't comprehend tbh). You could look at so many things like registry or indexation, but what makes the most difference to me: the errors actually tell something while in Windows "an unknown error occurred" without anything showing in the event viewer.
There's really just one reason for Windows; we did invest a fortune on Windows apps and training and you can't really explain why it needs to be build again to shareholders.
I really consider moving to France because they want to ban Windows on government infrastructure and I'd love to help. What holds me back is I'd have to lern French xD

Linux usage (personal) is only increasing but my prediction is that there will be a huge spike at some point, your generation is using it more than ever, probably due to ChromeOS by Google, the takeup by some governments in the EU and gaming becoming more popular on the platform due to Valve.

This post made me feel very old, damn.
Anyways, you are not missing much. Windows is only worth it for work and some media production although these people tend to prefer MacOS.
Even with Office I find Collabora more than enough.
