an alarm clock that you install on your ceiling. When it goes off you get a max number of snoozes and then it drops thumbtacks on the floor.

After I swept up the thumbtacks I would never get around to reloading the clock. The thumbtacks would sit on top on of my chest of drawers until they got buried under stuff I don't know where to put or haven't put away yet and then I would forget about them until I was looking for something else.

Just keep your phone somewhere you need to get up to turn off and make the tone something that annoys the fuck out of you

I did this in college. I would get up, turn it off and go right back to sleep.

I used to grab my phone and lay in bed. Was late for work most days coz of that
Been doing some pull-ups and push-ups to wake myself up

I used tomhave a "helicopter alarm". Alarm hoes off, a little circular properallr shoota off the top and you have to get up to find it amd put it back on the alarm to turn it off.
Took me a month to discover I could jam a pen in the port and that would work instead.

there were gadget alarm clocks on wheels that would roll away when they went off so you had to get up and catch the thing to turn it off... another had a disc that flew off with the alarm, you had to find it and return it before the alarm would stop..

Ceiling idea could work if you just make it where the persons had to jump in and hit it or something or have an unreachable alarm clock with a hard to reach kill switch.. no tacks lol

Thumbtacks on the floor sounds like yet another reason not to get out of bed.

Thumbtacks everywhere other than the floor

This belongs in the same category as medieval traps.

if you're IN BED, thumbtacks on the floor isn't going to make you get out of bed.
