ULPT Has anyone poured salt all over their ground to stop weeds?

Apparently you can make weed killer with salt, vinegar and washing up liquid/dish soap.
I want to make a big batch and tip it all over areas where I don't want weeds coming back, in front of my garden wall in the street and my driveway that is covered in stones.
Nothing else is growing/planted in these areas, no plants or flowers.
Weed killer is really expensive and doesn't stop the problem permanently. Plus I have dogs I don't want poisoned.
But, I know this would remove the weeds by contaminating the ground. Is this too wrong to do?

I heard of this method for removing an old tree trunk.. glad I never suggested it to my buddy brother to get rid of the tree stump in his backyard after reading these comments 😧

Don't pour it on the ground, you have to cover the leaves so you SPRAY it on the weeds

That's not how you salt the ground

I want to make sure they don't grow back

Nothing will ever grow back in that spot for sure

Salt will make it so nothing will grow there, ever. It doesn’t just kill weeds, It kills everything.

We used to pour used motor oil along the edges of the driveway and fence line.
Yeah, we used to do a lot of stupid stuff decades ago.

Apparently you've not heard of "salting the earth". It's kinda bad for the future. But since this is ULPT, dump gallons of salt water everywhere, and also don't forget to dump it on the roots of your neighbor's biggest, oldest tree.Â

You‘d poison the whole ground for a long time. This is probably not just unethical but illegal depending on where you live.

A strong salt solution (with water, of course) poured around the roots of any plant will cause reverse osmosis - the strong solution will draw water from inside the root hairs towards the stronger solution outside. This is the mechanics of root poisoning. The plant (or tree)will die.

Historically yes.
