it was very expensive and never preformed well. but i have a 4 year extended warranty on it and it would be nice if it could die.
thanks

Pour water into it. Then let it dry competent before sending it back.

a lot of electronics have liquid damage indicators...

The guy receiving the return and processing it isn't inspecting the internals

I don't know why you got down voted, if OP got it from a store, your post is completely accurate.

the whole point of having the indicators is to deny warranty repairs / replacements, of course they are going to check them.
also the indicators are usually positioned in places where inspecting them requires little or no disassembly (visible through a vent, etc).

I might try that, thankfully its a big boxs store extended warranty so idk if they will send it anywhere other then the dumpster.
There warranty even says it covers drops and spills

Corrosion will show instantly. However, over-volting it....

Plug in an adapter that has too much voltage.
Open it up and tap the board with a hammer.
Leave it out on a rainy night and let it dry in the sunshine.
Spray the inside with wd40.
Open it and clip off a leg from all the capacitors.
Take it to the store and tell them that it connects wifi but Internet pages don't load. Say that my neighbors router works fine.

How much time you got left?
Sometimes, a router need to be treated like a baby. An extra later for warmth. Maybe a lot of extra layers. Near a heater.

I got 2 years of warranty left, so ill be sure to keep the little guy nice and toasty for a while

Ah plenty of time. Was worried you had days.

A router or a router? The thing that connects you to the internet or the thing that cuts shapes into wood? Hook the first up to an excessive power supply for the first, fit it on a table and leave it on til the motor overheats for the second.

Try wrapping it in aluminum foil. It will likely overheat and die. Do it outside in case it catches fire.

Go around your house connecting the router to any power adapter that will fit the hole. Try adapters with different tip polarities and power outputs.

Firmware update and pull power mid update. Play dumb and say it just stopped working.
nayrwolf@reddit
Wrap it in a towel upside down over a heating pad. The heat might make solder points separate and stop working properly
