Safe Area

Is the neighborhood near Baylor University Medical Center safe? I seen a condo online that I really like but I’m not sure what area this is or if it’s safe. Most of the places I have looked at have been downtown and uptown. I’m 25 F and will be living alone

It would happen to be The Gastonian would it?

No but it’s down the street 4005

I am female and lived alone one block over on Swiss. I didn’t have any trouble with the neighborhood. I expected to because there are no schools in the area, there are a lot of registered sex offenders in the area. There's a halfway house on Peak. I didn't have a car so I walked and took DART everything and didn't feel unsafe.
There were issues with the apartment complex on the corner of Swiss and Peak but I think they were demolished.
Interesting fact-the house across the street from the complex is the oldest house in Lakewood.

Agreed, you'll be fine. You're in an urban area, just don't let your guard down.

Make sure you put in the address of any place you're considering here in addition to checking crime maps:

You do not have to make an account. Just enter the address and search.

So misleading. Every dense part of the city will look dangerous and it will obviously indicate you should live out in Parker where there’s a city ordinance requiring you to have an acre of land.

It’s a personal preference. If you already live in the area, drive by at different times of day (late at night, weekends, weekdays) and ask yourself if you’re comfortable. Some will say it’s fine, and others won’t.

I’m moving from another state

There is a lot of property crime in Dallas in general, not just that area. I would look at the parking situation and traffic noise (just me)

Thank you I will. I’m moving from another state so I have been doing most of my research online. I have a tour scheduled for next week

Honestly you’ll be fine

Do you have a dog by chance? Basically the area is gentrifying and it's not complete. I would check and see what the security where you are looking at exactly is like. Sometimes private security that is diligent makes a big difference. Definitely drive around after dark and check things out.

I don’t have a dog but I don’t mind getting one. I have a tour scheduled for next week but it’s during the day time I will be sure to stop by again during night and ask about security

It’s not the best area, I would consider living a little bit more north
