Does JLR get a cut on each unit sold? Because of they do then this doesn't surprise me, companies like making money haha.

I think so, that's probably why they're not interfering with where it's sold. They get money either way, and one is just licesning a name / style

And Probabily where they can sell was already in contract
emceter@reddit
Technically wouldn’t it mean JLR can finally make any money. Maybe that’s their long term strategy. Live off of royalties since this whole “make car” thing seems too hard lol

If Britain follows Europe and America to make local protection, that models would nearly never come in any time.

Europe nor the UK stops them, they just get heavy import tariffs, but somehow they still undercut European manufacturers. It's just not by as much as it is in China.

Chery's dealership setup over here feels all over the place. Jaecoo and Omoda seem to go together, Chery themselves seem to have their own dealers and then they're bringing Lepas later in the year and now want to bring Freelander?

They have a brand for every step of the corporate ladder. Just like GM used to have Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, Cadillac.

Just feels all a bit muddled but I guess ultimately it's not different to what flavour of Stellantis car you ultimately want.

These are going to dominate the school runs.

JLR will effectively be building or at least assembling 1 or 2 Freelander models in the UK by 2028
Capri280@reddit
Would it be a good idea for jlr to have the freeloader in chery showrooms in the UK? A Jaecoo is currently the best selling car in the UK
kstetter@reddit (OP)
Probably the most reliable product by JLR
