You can make these without a kit. It's a common type of plastic, the same plastic used for clear food take-out containers. Costco sells croissants in the right type, too. Draw a picture in permanant markers, cut it out, stick it in the oven on 350 for 2-3 minutes on a baking sheet or piece of foil, keep watching, remove when it stops twisting and lies flat.
Pro tip - if it's going to be a hanging ornament, poke a hole int he top before shrinking. Otherwise you need a drill.
My wife still makes these with her students. Kids make their ornament designs on them and then she takes them home to shinkify them. Parents love them still… even though the parents are too young to have grown up with them.

I remember getting Transformers Shrinky Dinks when I was younger! I loved coloring them and watching them shrink in the oven. Such fun memories!
