Any recommendations for a optic/light?

Careful it can be very addictive once you start😁

Dope... I have the Shield X performance center on layaway. Can't wait to get it out next month

Welcome to the lifestyle!
As many others will say and as will I, training is very valuable, a good class or even some reputable YouTube videos and dry fire can go very far.
I always recommend to learn to shoot irons first and get used to those as i believe it’s an important fundamental to master.
If you WANT a red dot, I’m not familiar with the cut on that particular guns slide but I do personally have great experiences with Vortex Red Dots and the Holosun series both I’ve used carrying and during competition.
Hope this helps!

Congrats! That's an excellent first gun! Mine was a taurus.
ReverendReed@reddit
All of my pistol optics are Holosun.
My general rule for edc is if it's good enough for law enforcement, it's good enough for me.
As for lights, the new OLIGHT PL-X is DOPE.
Ive never owned an OSIGHT, but they sure seem to be becoming popular.
But to echo everyone else, go buy 1000 rounds.
This is my perspective, and I'm a Nobody: I put a 1/2 size USPSA target out at 10 yards. (Most self defense shootings happen between 3-7) I don't feel comfortable carrying a specific gun, unless I can shoot it relatively quickly (1 second at most splits) and get every hit on target.
Aim small, miss small.

On a weapon light: you need at least 500 lumens for a critical trick: point it straight up in a normal size home, biggest room, full dark, and be able to do target ID corner to corner without muzzling anybody that doesn't need shooting.
You also need a light with a 2" long body. Any longer and you overhang the muzzle (lengthening the gun).
Right now, to get at least 500 lumens in a Streamlight or Surefire light, you're looking at a 2.5" long light.
I strongly recommend the Olight PL2 Mini Valkyrie with 600 lumens on tap, 2" body. It's also widely supported by holster makers. I've got one on my Taurus G3c daily carry. It has the same type of controls as the Streamlight or Surefire ("forward and down, both sides") and has a strong quick disconnect setup so on an emergency that doesn't involve gunfire you can dismount it and use it as a handheld light. NOT optimal but it's safer than using a light on the gun when you don't need the gun part. It's also a USB rechargeable battery with magnetic cable to the light (no actual plug) and a good track record for not catching on fire. :)
Sight: you have an RMSc optic mount and I think it's also set up for the K series Holosun optics? Check the manual. The Holosun K is the same as RMSc except the two positioning posts need to be shorter for K. I think your gun has that from the factory, otherwise you need to file down the posts a bit if you run the K optic or use a spacer plate (NOT recommended, it messes with your iron sight co-witness).
I think one of the higher end Osights have a cool feature where it can do automatic brightness control BUT you can also override it either of two ways:
1) You can take direct manual control over brightness if you need to.
2) You can also keep the auto brightness but throw in a manual override making everything one or two clicks brighter or dimmer than normal. Dropping it at least one click helps with astigmatism.
You'll have to look closer at Osight specs to find it.
Osight optics have a surprisingly good rep. They work as good as Holosun.

Welcome to welcome to the family!! You chose…..wisely!

First go shoot your gun before you get an optic or light, go spend that money on ammo.
Smaller guns are harder to shoot so if you haven't already take an introductory pistol class.

Took a class a few weeks ago, shot 50 at the class. Shot 49 rounds at the range when I bought it (bought 50 but one was a dud)
g1Razor15@reddit
That's a good starting point, shame about the dud round. Might want to call the ammo manufacturer and give them the lot number of the box you purchased.
Tarkovruinedmylife@reddit (OP)
They were reloads from the range, didnt mind it too much because they were a couple dollars cheaper than the other range ammo they had. I plan on going back whenever I have some extra cash and continuing getting more familiar with my gun. Probably will be a monthly or bi-monthly thing for me. I had a ton of fun shooting both times.
g1Razor15@reddit
In the mean time, dry fire. Learn the wallnof your trigger.
Personally speaking I use CCI Blazer Brass 115 grain And Monarch 115 grain steel case.
Jupitor13@reddit
Light? Practice shooting one handed, left and right with a flashlight.
Tarkovruinedmylife@reddit (OP)
Im a normal human, not trying to rp as john wick. Otherwise I'd have saved the $50 and got a shield plus.
Jupitor13@reddit
I understand. The reason I decided to train left handed was I crashed my road bike and my right hand found a broken bottle. Ouch 6 stitches deep into the base of my right thumb. It was pretty gross, you could see muscles moving through the cut.
So I advocate for basic marksmanship, not larping. Maybe I’ll put a light on my M&P, but I can’t search with it as I just might end up covering a friendly person. Does that make sense?
I really like the JW movies, but my fav scene was when the Malinois chomped that dude’s crotch.
somepulp63@reddit
I’d recommend a TLR 7 for a light and an enclosed red dot from either Vortex or Osight(tough to beat the value you get, just get an RMS C cut).
Definitely invest in a good kydex holster. I personally like Hellhound and spend the extra to get it wrapped.
jdaddyme@reddit
Got the exact same thing
ArceusTwoFour_Zero@reddit
Get some FMJs and go shooting before you start putting stuff on it. Ammo is more important, especially for a beginner.
Tarkovruinedmylife@reddit (OP)
Already shot a box of reloads from the range/shop. It was the first thing i did. I wasn't looking to buy anything for it just yet, but was more interested in how much it would potentially cost for a "good setup"
PlaceUserNameHere67@reddit
Congrats. Sub compact I would go with a TLR7-Sub for a light. As far as an optic I don't know what fits the ShieldX
Minute-Log-7098@reddit
Congrats!
