I was just thinking about how awesome it was to listen to a CD. Maybe fall asleep and the. wake up to track 89 or something and hear some outtakes or hidden tracks. Anyone know at CDs that had hidden tracks? Kerosine Hat from Cracker comes to mind.

Man, so many had hidden tracks its tough to even remember ones that weren't mentioned already.

Beach House has one: "Wherever You Go", the final track of 2012's insanely great Bloom LP. There"s 13:16 of silence after the last listed song ("Irene") ends and "Wherever" begins.
It's on Spotify, and they actually include the 13 minutes of silence between tracks, too!

And the Angel of the Lord came unto me Snatching me up from my place of slumber And took me on high and higher still Until we moved to the spaces betwixt the air itself And he brought me into a vast farmland of our own Midwest And as we descended, cries of impending doom rose from the soil One thousand, nay, a million voices full of fear And terror possessed me then And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots! You see, Reverend Maynard Tomorrow is harvest day and to them, it is the Holocaust" And I sprang from my slumber, drenched in sweat Like the tears of one million terrified brothers and roared "Hear me now, I have seen the light! They have a consciousness, they have a life, they have a soul! Damn you! Let the rabbits wear glasses! Save our brothers!" Can I get an amen? Can I get a hallelujah? Thank you, Jesus

Yeah, I had a similar experience. Not long after I got the album, I put the CD in my player and played it through. When it ended, it didn't put in a new CD and about ten or fifteen minutes later a song started blaring out of my stereo and I nearly soiled myself.

The album "Wood" by Moxy Fruvous has this completely insane folk rockabilly song at the end (Organ Grinder?). "Dirty Work" by the Rolling Stones (1986) has a lovely little boogie woogie tune after the last track in honor of founding member Ian Stewart.

I think the counting crows one is their cover of paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
sharp-calculation@reddit
Oh wow, I hadn't realized that one is there TOO. It's on a different album.
Counting Crows, Hard Candy: Track 13, the last track is similar to the last few on my list: Starts as one song, has a long silence, and then is a totally different song. In this case the two songs are: "Holiday In Spain" and "Big Yellow Taxi". Big Yellow Taxi, originally by Joni Mitchell, is the song with the lyrics referenced by u/MarcQ1s "Paved paradise and put up a parking lot".
Counting Crows version of this is quite good.

I don’t have the CD anymore to confirm, but I’m fairly certain that it was the “Get The Knack” album (1979) by The Knack that startled me one evening.
I went into the next room after the regular tracks had finished at a loud volume setting on the big Panasonic stereo system, and unbeknownst to me, there was a hidden track that had an announcer exhorting, “watch out for flying concrete…please!!”
As I wasn’t thinking about the CD at that point, I immediately snapped to attention, and was like, wtf was that! 😳 Momentarily thought about ducking, but then realized it was a hidden track from the CD.

It's 22 minutes of awesomeness, most people consider it a final send off of Freddie.
I bought the CD the day it was released and popped it in my fancy 6 disc CD player.
After the last track it went right into Track 13, the internet was still young so it was hard to figure out what I just heard but it was pretty cool hearing it the first time and hearing Freddie's voice.

So wasn't the CD but freshman year in college a girl in my dorm dubbed off several of her pink Floyd albums to cassette for me. Wish you were here ... Crazy Diamond 6-9 ... The album version is like 12.5 minutes ... At about the 10 minute mark her album started to skip but it was at the point where the melody repeats over and over. The skip inflated the song from 12.5 minutes to fill out the 60 minute cassette and it took me literally years to realize it 🤣🤣🤣 I used to fall asleep listening to it and it wasn't until I updated from cassette to CD that I realized the song really wasn't quite that long 😂😂😂

It’s PSB’s Very album! Go West finishes, then there’s two minutes of silence, then the hidden track plays. Not a hidden track, just the last track on the album - The Smiths - Meat is Murder - I fell asleep quickly one night (in my 20s, still living at home) and woke up with cows at the slaughterhouse. Honestly, I've never recovered from that night and do not like that song, never is added to playlist and while it has played, it never makes it onto the phone for long drives either... but yes, several cds that have a hidden track, for any that I liked, I just used Audacity to split it and create a new mp3 (Sarah McLachlan's Fumbling, has a piano only version of Possession that I almost prefer to the album track), The Verve, Urban Hymns, has Come On, hidden at the end, I did the same thing and cut it off from the track it was attached to, so I have it as it's own song now

Bush - Sixteen Stone had a short 45 sec song at the end, if that's considered a hidden track.

"Problem Child" (last song, side 1) on AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" album is a great example. After the song finishes, there's a pause, and then the band kicks back into the main riff - no vocals - and just rocks it for a minute or so until it fades out. Tight, rockin', and fantastic!
Also like Green Day's "All By Myself", a hidden acoustic track on Dookie.

Sepultura - Chaos AD final hidden track was a banger

I wish Travis would get off his horse* and finish whatever Purple was going to be.
*or was it meth? It’s been a long time since Red. 9/25/01, not a great time for music releases.

Eddie Spaghetti from the Supersuckers said it best. "You can call it a bonus track all you want, but it's just track 13 to me."

I helped engineer many records in the 90’s and 00’s. EVERY band wanted hidden tracks on their disc. It was definitely ‘the thing’ to do.

Cracker's biggest radio hit, Eurotrash Girl was originally released on the EP Tucson, and then as an unlisted track (track 69) on the album Kerosene Hat. I remain convinced that skipping more than 50 blank 3 second tracks to get to this song beoke my sony CD/tapedeck mini stereo in college

Sister Machine Gun’s “Burn” album had a really good hidden track. You went to the first track and then rewinded back to around negative 3 minutes and then played it from there.

On one of the first Tom Petty CD's, there's a voice announcement by Tom Petty halfway through the CD, which went pretty much like this:
"Hello CD listeners! We have come to the moment when those still listening to album or cassette would have to get up, walk over to the player, and switch to side two. In fairness to those listeners, we'll have a moment of silence before we continue.
Ok, here's side two."
