For fellow passengers travelling to Changi Airport in Singapore

So I work at Changi Airport in Singapore, I will not disclose my occupation due to privacy reasons I suppose. Due to the nature of my occupation, I am stationed at the aerobridges everyday at all terminals. I just want to make an informative post to everybody travelling to and from Singapore about the cleanliness of the aerobridges, there has been a cockroach infestation in some of the bridges for quite some time now, especially in Terminal 3. So next time you guys are travelling, be mindful when standing close or leaning on the aerobridge walls. Thank you for your time and attention and I wish you all a pleasant flight.
For context, this was taken at gate A17

Lol who stay in the bridge unlike you
PozhanPop@reddit
It is the tropics teeming with insect life.
I've seen cockroaches come out of the galley and run around the bulkhead in a flight out of London.
no-cars-good-bikes@reddit
The craziest... and kinda scary thing about Singapore to me is that there didn't seem to be many insects when I went. Do they fog the city with raid every night?

Yeah. Like I get it, bugs are icky, but I really expected more from the framing of this post. I saw a couple bugs. Does it warrant a PSA really?

Hello fellow colleague at Changi đ. Lets also make sure weâre using the appropriate internal channels to provide this kind of feedback so the relevant departments can address the situation directly. Thanks for looking out for our travellers.

"Don't shine a light on any of our issues for the public, keep it under wraps so we can save face please and thank you".
w3475te@reddit
Itâs not even about saving face as compared to just letting the people in charge no first instead of raising a stink about it.
Like if your toilet broke down and your guest bursts out of the toilet shouting âHEY THIS GUY HAS A BROKEN TOILET IN HIS HOUSE BY THE WAYâ which is one just rude and two doesnât exactly solve the issue because now you only know it at the same time as other people as compared to knowing about it before and at least cordoning off the area so as to prevent even more people from dealing with it in the first place.
annoyedwityou@reddit
u/Typical-Ratio-1764 Friendly reminder to raise this issue with the airport operator instead of posting online which might not fix the problem. Also might want to consider that unauthorized filming at the airport especially by staff members may be illegal, considering that Changi Airport is designated a protected place by the law
HeavyTF2Ruhan@reddit
As long as the camera pointing down most of the time or at the insects
Kinder22@reddit
The ban on chewing gum wasnât enough! Ban any food that produces crumbs!
PeachyCoasterCat@reddit
Ban everything!! Straight to jail (unless youâre rich)
HeavyTF2Ruhan@reddit
Bruh Singapore doesn't care whether you're rich or not still you have to go regardless of your actions
crewsctrl@reddit
Is that Joe's Apartment?
Coorawatha@reddit
Complaining about Changi is mental. I fly a lot and can safely say they do an amazing job.
PozhanPop@reddit
One of the best airports I've ever been through.
peterpanic32@reddit
So you can't criticize the bad parts about an airport if they do other things well?
I've flown out of Changi hundreds of times, I'm happy to do it. Their gate security checks are annoying as fuck and they should re-engineer them if at all possible, like they're doing in their new terminals.
Coorawatha@reddit
Iâd make the counter argument that it makes checkin a lot more stress free. I have no fear Iâll miss my flight because of security. They ainât departing a flight because people are stuck going through security at the gate.

Time to fire the Singaporeans and hire foreigners.
Eclipsed830@reddit
It's a tropical area... This is how it is.Â
MarcosFauve@reddit
Thanks for you attention to this matter

To quote Valerie Cherish in The Comeback, "I don't need to see that!"
danscava@reddit
Nah, I have seen some rats at the terminal on FRA. Insects are not that bad.
peachy-matcha@reddit
I transit through Ho Chi Minh airport once, and it was midnight. I thought I saw a small cat ran across and realized it was actually a rat đ. Thatâs how big it was!
Antique-Kitchen-1896@reddit
LOL and in parts of Asia cockroaches are inch and a half long, and flies.
devoduder@reddit
Same in Florida, flying palmetto bugs were the worst.
peachy-matcha@reddit
Same in Houston

𤢠gross and thank you
VladimirsGs@reddit
Thatâs a common problem in tropical climates, but honestly the airport still does a good job, if you want you can visit Berlin Airport, because itâs the worst I have seen. For example the toilets in Singapore Changi Airport are very clean and always available in BER I had to wait one hour in line to use the toilet and they had an indoor waterfall similar to the lobby in Singapore, because water was leaking and it was extremely disgusting.
TrustUrTech@reddit
If you remove all the insects in this video, it still looks disgusting.
youngaustinpowers@reddit
This is just the portable tunnel that leads to the plane. This isnt what the airport looks like inside
fervetopus@reddit
Berlin Airport has no business being in a "first" world country. It's awful.
Airconditionedgeorge@reddit
Somehow managed to skip that experience. I was trying extra hard to pack light, and packed every single one of my items (from Seattle-Heathrow-Berlin) in a 80L Patagonia duffel (not a small bag by any means). I was not forced or even asked to check the bag on any of my flights. So, when I got off the easyjet flight in Berlin, and got through the cancerous customs, I was B lining it straight to the train.
Good brag IMO
alpha_epsilion@reddit
Are u a lm or ground handler?
Nideen@reddit
Tropics does not automatically equal pests in your home... You would never see this at a hotel or even private villa in the Caribbean.
golfzerodelta@reddit
Good thing none of us live inside an airbridgeâŚ
sangha1212@reddit
TexasBrett@reddit
Whoâs hanging out in jet bridges anyway?
PotatoFeeder@reddit
When boarding groups get called too fast and people are queueing at the jetbridge
GuessTraining@reddit
probably people who work on jet bridges, just like the OP who won't disclose it for privacy reasons
Ill_Football9443@reddit
He's smart, he only revealed one shoe!
Myfooty94@reddit
We've got spiders, and snakes, so....
Odd-Understanding399@reddit
Well, f*ck thi sh!t, Imma fly only private from now on.
Conor_J_Sweeney@reddit
Itâs a space that isnât sealed to the outside elements in the tropics. Thereâs no way to fully prevent this.
IcyTable6584@reddit
Pest control?
Conor_J_Sweeney@reddit
Obviously yes, but itâs impossible to eliminate all the bugs from an outdoor area.
64bittechie@reddit
Thank you for the warning! Stay safe.
