Most generations after ours will never know the satisfaction of slamming a phone down on someone who deserves it.

Just today I called a customer service line where the person on the other side did not listen to a word I said and just kept asking me the same question over and over. I wish slamming a phone down didn't cost me hundreds of dollars now. They should make cellphones our of whatever magic indestructible materials these were made from.

I have a flip phone. Snapping it shut is just as satisfactory.

The razr v3. I loved that one. best thing since slamming the receiver down was the smart SNAP

I have a Z Flip 5.

THIS!!!! I miss this ability so badly!!!
smapdiagesix@reddit
I also miss being able to really, truly hardcore *R*A*G*E*Q*U*I*T* a computer game by reaching around to the side and flipping the fuck-you big power switch with real contempt.
sickboy6_5@reddit
or, slamming the handset on your desk repeatedly so the other person can hear it.
once those two buttons go down the call ends and they hear nothing...
FriendRaven1@reddit
Once, slamming the receiver in anger only bloodied my knuckle, which pissed me off even more, so I punched the entire phone off the wall.
reachers_toothbrush@reddit
I would add closing a "clamshell" mobile phone to end a call. Very similar and very satisfying.
Ecstatic-Manager-149@reddit
Have you seen that they do a "retro" telephone handset you can attach to your mobile phone?
They just don't have the cradle to slam it into when you're done.
Which completely misses the bloody point!
samebatchannel@reddit
They might. Just be sure it’s their phone and not someone else’s

Big Papi has entered the chat

Funny you say that, I'm Dominican by blood.
Nice_Point_9822@reddit
I'm m from Boston and that phone is asking was one of my favorite things ever!
F-Cloud@reddit
Old phones were so durable. I used to slam that handset so hard it would knock the person on the other side into next week.
gargolito@reddit (OP)
That's pretty hard.
lovebeinganasshole@reddit
I’m sure there’s a gif somewhere.
LateRecognitionLimit@reddit
This lost Millennial still has a landline at work. I got to slam the receiver after someone used a racial slur he didn't think I was going to understand. It wasn't as satisfying as a rotary phone, but it was great deja vu.
WaterwingsDavid@reddit
I love these old fashioned phones! One time my uncle ripped a wall mounted one off the wall after my aunt was on too long! (Yes, they were BOTH crazy!!)
boookworm0367@reddit
"I got in an argument with a girlfriend inside of a tent. That's a bad place for an argument, because I tried to walk out, and had to slam the flap".
"How are you supposed to express your anger in this situation? Zippered up really quick!".
~Mitch Hedberg (RIP)
StanleyQPrick@reddit
Doors don't slam right either 😞
Not even car doors. It's like:
"Anyway, alls I said was that you're not as hot as your sister... Calm down"
"PULL OVER"
"Ugh whatever, here. Now go on, get out!"
*gets out but stands a moment, hand on frame of door*
"Well, I just want you to know, I've been sleeping with Kurt!"
*gentle click*
What has been lost can never be forgotten

And the slight "ring" in the bells from the shock.
SO SATISFYING!
RandomObserver13@reddit
On behalf of my long gone dad, I will submit that they were not unbreakable. Bash a wall phone with the receiver hard enough and it would break. Still worked though, lol.
mfigroid@reddit
Slam the receiver down hard enough you will hear the bell ring. 100% satisfaction.
crone_Andre3000@reddit
I watched my grandfather pull one of those things off the wall one night and throw it across the room. Not even a scratch.
OreoSpeedwaggon@reddit
I feel fortunate to never have experienced anger to the point of slamming a phone receiver down, or ever wanting to.
lancerreddit@reddit
but they will know how to hit the hang up red button on their phones with their finger hard - same emotion
Hot_Rock@reddit
Does no good slamming down a phone when you can’t even talk to a human. There’s a special place in hell for the companies that have AI do their customer service. They’ll no longer get my business if I can avoid it.
KurtStation68@reddit
Definitely - satisfaction is the right word. And it feels like a slam dunk when the phone and receiver connect without slipping to one side just as they connect. And the rattle of the bell.
Bamalouie@reddit
Could have definitely used this today when dealing with my extremely irritating mother lol
greyshirtfreshman@reddit
Also there’s no greater pleasure than turning up the volume on a song. Pressing the “+” represent hit the same
gringoloco01@reddit
You could beat those phones with a hammer and still not break em.
I totally agree. I miss that feeling of slamming that phone down.
