Ring Raiders (1989) only had 5 episodes but I was hooked for one summer, then forgot all about it. Cool intro and art style though.

Don't remember this, but reminded me of Starcom toys, which were the coolest as a kid.

I remember coming home one day early and this being on. It was an episode with the biplane pilot, I think he doubted he skills... it was 30+ years ago so I barely remember.
Anyway, I kept hoping to catch it again and may have at least once because I remember having part of it on video.

The animation really resembles the original Æon Flux cartoons, which I absolutely love.

Maaaaan I loved mine when I was a kid :) never realised how much this theme song sounded like Will Farrell singing though 0_0
Also... Remind Me!
Post 'Ring Raiders' to r/80stoys

This only had 5 episodes? Just found out about this show, love the aircraft designs and how they get used. So that kind of blows it was so short lived

Now do the Dinosaucers one.

Diiiiinosaaaauuucers... DA-duh-duh, DA-duh-duh, Duh-Dum
I don't really remember anything about the show, but the theme song has been stuck in my head for three decades.

Theme song lives rent free in my head. FUCKING DIC

It does go hard. Not a lot of pesky lyrics to remember, either.

Centurions and Jayce and the wheeled warriors for me. Who ever heard of ANY of this crap!
Norwester77@reddit
I definitely remember Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors! Trippy.

Holy crap I loved this toy! I don’t remember the cartoon but I can remember flying my jet on a ring for hours
DrMcJedi@reddit
Did they hire the Witwicky Construction workers from Transformers to work as their deck crew?

Were faster than evil
BichezNCake@reddit
Probably because they couldn’t get the toys to market

I don't remember the cartoon, but remember being obsessed with that wrist mounted sound effect generator. I wasn't really interested in the jets. I got it for my birthday and played with it all the time.

Holy shit i had forgotten about this one

Aw man, this looks awesome. Probably not very good for a 47 yr old’s tastes, but I would have loved this as a kid probably. I lived in a rural town for most of the 80s, but every summer we’d visit my cousins in the LA area and they’d tell me about all the sick cartoons they got to see just because they’re from a larger market. I grew up not knowing that Transformers was a normal Saturday morning thing for some people and not some 3 episode tapes you’d get at grocery store video counter.

The concept was Amazing.
Fighter planes from history and the future.
Pilots who "died" but saved at the moment of their death as to not contaminate the time line
Time traveling fighter jets messing with historical events.
Super powers granted by special rings only wing commanders could wield
The MC being a WW2 pilot going to the future to see his allies are a Japanese and a German who were his enemies.

The name of this show is also ironically the name of an adult feature as well. 🤪

I feel like I had a VHS that came with a toy? (yep; I see it on the 'bay)
SweetCosmicPope@reddit
Loved this show. I watched it and then it just disappeared and I had no idea why. I had some of the rings with the airplanes attached to them, as well.

I remember the toys but totally missed the cartoon.
AsideLost@reddit
Did he turn into the cockpit? Lol

You made me wonder because I have no memory of their ability or power.

Mission was to save a cat in a tree?
I didn't see this one, or I don't remember it.
I wish I could have checked my parents' basement before they chucked all my stuff before moving to a smaller place.

I love how the Asian or Native American character has the headband

The 80s cartoon/commercial pipeline is a shared trait of Xennials. You'd make a toy in conjunction with a cartoon to effectively act as an infomercial.
65 episodes was the default, this got you five episodes a week twice a year.
13 episodes got you one episode a week four times a year (think Legend of Zelda on the Super Mario Bros. Super Show)
Lastly, like Ring Raiders was the five episode mini series. Not a lot of faith in the toy/product but enough to have a special one week event.
Chuck Norris' Karate Kommandos got me this way :)
