This is correct. I wish people had any clue that when they protest their appraisal, they may personally be 'saving money' but in reality they're just pushing their burden on to other people.

It sounds like he is talking about the new re appraisal plan, not tax protests . Appraisal district methodology shouldn’t be conflated with homeowner rights.
Because of SB2, the taxing authority cannot just freely collect more from other home owners because of successful protests. They can do it within a very small band (3.5% revenue growth cap), but anything more they need voter approval, and the cap makes the effects of a successful protest nominal to nearly non existent to your neighbors.
Protesting is well within your right, and I don’t think I’ve met a single Texan homeowner that doesn’t protest their taxes every year… regardless of how much their home Is worth.
It’s a shit system and I wish they would just get the values right from the start, but I guess it’s easier said than done.

It's just a question of math and how the overall tax burden is spread.
The 'pie' can only go up 3.5%, so the tax rate is then determined by how much taxable value there is after the protest process. If you say your piece of the pie is smaller, other people will naturally get a bigger piece.

They have to cut the budget to make up for the difference. They don’t go looking for new money from other homeowners. It would be much more talked about, if that were the case

Yeah I’ll get down voted but I will protest every year. This year alone I got my value dropped by $110k and I’ll keep doing it every year. What amounts to a couple hours of work saves me money and if the “other people” don’t want to take time to get it done then that’s their problem not mine.

Anti trans is the new anti abortion. Notice how it all ramped up at/around the time SCOTUS overturned Roe v Wade? It's all a distraction tactic by the GOP to wedge single issue voters against liberals or progressives that support progressive social policies all while the GOP robs the average taxpayer blind to prop up their billionaire donors, friends, or themselves. Tarrant County has been a battleground of this wedge especially for the past year, mainly because it's the highest populated conservative county in the country and (my guess) it really kicked off because it nearly flipped to democrat in the past few elections. Now the GOP is pulling out the big guns and letting the party march around in lockstep all over the place in trying to rile up these single issue voters and keep the rich nice and overfed with taxpayer dollars while the rest of us suffer for the kneejerk reactionary voting of alt right traitors at the polls.

It is important you understand that none of the fiscal part actually matters. None of these ideas of "they are getting republicans to vote against their own interests" is real.
You must fundamentally shift your thinking.
The truth is that normal, moral people can not understand that they ARE voting for their own interests. The interest IS white supremacy.
They will willingly vote to keep themselves poor. To subsidize the rich. To sell their children and their futures to the war machine etc etc etc because it disenfranchises minorities.
As long as they can play victim and believe that the worst White person is still better than the best minority for anything relevant, they will vote for that. I understand its difficult to fathom in our logic based brains but if you look through this lens it finally just all falls into place.

Yes appraisal value drifts further from market value the more expensive the property is. This trend is seen nationwide. I believe strong towns or similar org did a write up on it

of course they are. The get some private appraisal for their property values and submit that as legitimate. The "private appraisal" is usually millions less than the actual market value of the property.
The same way that wealthy people have large SALES TAXABLE purchases shipped outta state so they don't have to pay sales tax on it.
The scams the wealthy use to avoid paying taxes are countless. And yes, that means that us normies are footing all the bills.
