Ryzen 5500x3D upgrade

Hello everyone,
I have an old build with a R5 3600, 16GB of RAM and I replaced my old RX 5700 XT with a RX 9060 XT 16GB.
I noticed that, especially in CPU heavy games like Battlefield 6, the CPU is running at 100% bottlenecking the GPU.
I am considering an upgrade -staying on the am4 platform- and since I cannot find anywhere a 5700x3d I was thinking of getting a 5500x3d at around 170€
How do you find this upgrade? Do you think that it's worth it?

I think the 5500x3d is great. Especially for CPU bound games like PUBG.
With my 5600x I was averaging 110 frames.
With the 5500x3d my average frames are around 200. The AR sprays feel better.

Later this year they will being back the 5800X3D. You should wait for that. It's the most powerful gaming CPU for your mobo.

That's true, but at what cost? The 5500x3d new is like $220. I highly doubt the re released 5800x3d is gonna be near that.

Thanks for your answer!
I'm playing at 1440p. On some games the performance is pretty decent but as I mentioned on Battlefield 6 for example the CPU is running at 100% and I get low fps and stuttering no matter the graphics settings.

I upgraded from a Ryzen 1600 to a 5500x3d recently and was in the same boat as you because I couldn't really find the 5600/5700/5800x3d at a decent price. Imo, definitely worth it, but most of the games I play are simulators like rimworld or oxygen not included. The other gaming example I have is cyberpunk, where I'm basically able to turn everything up to ultra instead of having to selectively lower settings for a weak cpu. The higher clock speeds and extra cores would be nice, but I'm happy with what's essentially 90% of the performance for 50% of the price.

It would be a decent upgrade, around 20-25% more fps. In most games the 5500x3d and 5700x3d are pretty similar in performance.

more then +25% fps

I just upgraded my living room pc from a 2700X to a 5500X3D and it’s night and day.
In games it’s right there with my 5700X3D on my desktop. Definitely the best cost-effective upgrade for AM4 currently.
With the 5800X3D being re-released that may change but I doubt it’ll come close to the 5500X3D on price.

That's really good to know thank you!

Just make sure you upgrade your BIOS before installing the new CPU.

it's a good upgrade

I have a 5500x3d with a rx 9070, and my man, in dota 2 i used to have 100 fps when had a 5600g, 1% lows of 50 fps, but with the new 5500x3d i get 190 fps and lows of 160 if much, what an amazing cpu

5500X3D is solid for gaming, AM4 still has juice.
troublinyo@reddit
You should see a notieceable difference on CPU heavy games yes, often 50%+, with some games getting a near 100% boost. I'd say a 5600x3d, 5700x3d or 5800x3d makes more sense as an upgrade if you can find one, to get the best out of what you have, but for 170€ that's not a bad upgrade.
That said, bottlenecking doesn't matter as long as you're getting decent FPS without stutters. What resolution are you playing on?
Grouchy-Cockroach544@reddit
It'a good upgrade you're mostly gaming, otherwise I would suggest 5700x

Yeah my main use of the PC is gaming
