So i went for Mint, thought i just need something simple.
the old operative system was windows 10. and oh boi how slow everything was.
i open MS-word and it took 30 second for it to boot.
for libraoffice it takes less then 2 secs.
So this old computer were more a test just to learn how to install linux safety.
It was super easy and straight forward.
Now i do have plans to install this on my workstation computer.

I remember I have macbook 2010 and in 2019 it super slow, can't even do anything there, which is expected and amazing it still alive considering I use it everyday as programmer.
Then I installed Ubuntu and boy, it like fresh new different machine, it eat all my task comfortly.
Too bad the monitor is dying, the MagSafe port is broken, and other hardware issue coming, so it rested at 2021, good 2 years addition if it not because hardware issue.

I think when most people switch to Linux they don't realise it's actually a triple whammy in some cases
You're not just replacing a slower OS, you're also not using Defender which causes a small bit of lag on everything (particularly web browsing) and you're not running any malware junk like McAfee

Feel free to explore Debian on your other machines. It's the most stable distro out there.

Uh huh

To be fair, Debian is stable. It's just we, developers, mean other thing under stable. All Linux distros are reliable, Debian too, sole exception being Debian Sid which isn't made for general usage.

Congrats on reviving your old computer! You are using Cinnamon, which is a rather heavy desktop environment. Linux Mint has an edition with the XFCE desktop environment, which should be even faster, although some say it's a bit uglier / looks a bit outdated.
