Has anyone had any experiences with royal mail post person delivery job?

Hi all,
I have been to an amazon recruitment session and i need the money so i might take the job, but i also applied to royal mail as a post person with driving, and they have requested me to come down for an interview next week. They even sent me the interview questions, i just wanted to know if anyone has had any experience working with royal mail and amazon, if so what did you prefer? which one was less stressful lol.
Also in the amazon recruitment session, we were told that they take a wise payment fee every week when we get paid, so that would eat into some of my wage which is taking the piss really, because i have to pay them to get paid!
Also if you could provide some context on the interview with royal mail it would be much appreciated.

You'll find that there's a lot of ex-amazon guys who drive for other companies e.g. the supermarkets. Generally they seem to say it was an alright gig, paid well and without too much pressure.
Can't say the same for Royal Mail as I've never encountered an ex-postie.

Avoid amazon at all costs.

Amazon at least from what I've read and heard are very much treating people like the a robots and optimising everything to be as productive as possible, which means things like not thinking about the fact drivers will need the loo, or that a driver might have to climb stairs for a delivery.
For the post office I used to be a christmas casual in the sorting office a while ago so have some experience. Working conditions were decent, had a good amount of breaks, but the new (and young) were given the back breaking work, whilst the older and more experienced were just sorting parcels and letters. They are also are unionised so you don't have the terrible working practise you have at Amazon too.

a lot of people underestimate how different the stress feels between the two. royal mail seems more like repetitive physical work with established routes and routines, whereas amazon often sounds algorithm managed where every delay feels monitored. some people handle one type of pressure way better than the other.

theres a reason "going postal" is a saying for going mental.

I knew a couple of posties years back. Back in those days you were paid for your shift and once it was over the rest of the day was yours — so the faster you did it the more free time you had. I think things have changed in the past several years, though.
I'm not surprised Amazon takes the piss. Their drivers face some absolutely shocking conditions and I've heard stories about people worked so hard they can't stop to go to the toilet. It does not sound like an appealing job, especially if you're one of the workers that has to use their own vehicles

I know a few posties.
If you are ok to be out walking in all weather it will be ok. You won't get van every day. Also be working on your own most of the day.
The old boys will do all the sorting office stuff. And they won't teach anyone new. Shifts aren't early as you would expect.

It’s better to post this in r/Ukjobs or the Royal Mail sub. You’d probably get better answers.

Hi, I can't help with your questions but there's a royalmail subreddit on here. Lots of really interesting stories re work conditions etc. Maybe some posts on their interviews too? Good luck!
