Joining military aviation with certs

Considering the idea of joining Air Force while already holding MEI CFII certs and 430 hours. Lots of military friends telling me I should try it out and honestly the chance to fly some cool shit sounds awesome. Anybody know if that makes it easier to get on the flight deck than the average Joe? Thanks

You’re not just “trying it out”. It’s a huge commitment and a lot of work. You’re not just walking into a flying position because you want one.
Join because you want to serve… not to “fly some cool shit”

Yea improper choice of words there, changed it. I just like to fly man and am exploring different paths. U can spare me the do it for service stuff
EliteEthos@reddit
No. I won’t spare you.
As a prior service aviator, people like you are a cancer on esprit de corps and morale.
The military isn’t about YOU, clown.

Caution…. That last sentence is triggering Rule 7.
Dial it back both here and elsewhere.

“U” is so silly.
“Spare me the do it for service stuff” is so arrogant.
“Service” is what it is.
You have no clue. Hope the slot you want goes to someone who wants to serve.

It makes it slightly easier to have certs. But it’s still very competitive to get a pilot slot.
Also you “want to fly cool shit” but you realize you might sign up and wind up flying a drone for a decade right? Or fail out of pilot training and be stuck in a missle silo.
Only join if you want to serve. Not because you think it’s cool or will help you get hired at Delta.

As someone who flies for the military, I don’t think that the “only join if you want to serve” mentality is necessarily the sole one to have either.
It’s okay to join because you only want a pilot slot. You just need to realize the risk you’re undertaking for reasons like you said - failing out of UPT, getting medically DQ’d, etc.
Myself and many other military pilots have a passion for aviation upon all else, and generally speaking a dislike/indifference to the other “officership” parts of the job, which really just involves hugging a desk and dealing with unimportant shit.
That all being said, making typos and not grasping what it takes like OP is a totally different problem in itself that will stand in his way.

Someone with 41 TT and you are the same person in the eyes of the AF, so no, not really.
