Always funny to see the emoto crowd trying to pretend to fit in while the rest of the ebike communities glares at them

Interesting to me the pushback from e-bike owners when someone says e-bikes are their own category and not the same as bicycles. Yet, I see way more gatekeeping and exclusion from e-bike owners arguing that class 2 or 3 e-bikes, or e-motos, shouldn’t be considered e-bikes.

Oh my god. This sub is full of Karens. I don’t have an emoto but it’s like you guys can’t stop thinking of them.

Ebikes are being regulated in most of the world due to emotos

E-bikes are being regulated because of reactionary bureaucrats.

Yes, but nobody has issues with a bicycle that helps you pedal up to 25 km/h. Everybody has issues with motorbikes that go to 50 km/h, with no insurance and license plate (which means they can freely run red lights, go on bike lanes/pedestrian areas, go the wrong way in one-way streets, etc.
Since all it takes to transform one into the other is a couple of copper cables (or lack thereof), the solution was to lump everything together and regulate it.

Plenty of e-bike riders are also dickheads going 15mph on sidewalks with no concern for others. Obviously not as bad as the emoto crowd but let’s not act like e-bike riders are completely innocent

Even the left one is not a proper e-bike according to some.

Ur in the wrong sub - this is for "All things electric bikes from motorcycles to pedal assist."
U want r/legalebikes
thedudefromsweden@reddit
That’s the most dead sub I’ve ever seen.

sub says one thing, the hivemind says another.

I don’t hate emotos but I do have to acknowledge the scourge of unlicensed underage riders that plague my town. 2 kids have died so far this year and one pedestrian was put into critical condition - the parents are still buying them in spades for their kids. My area is proof that unless the govt steps in to regulate them then nothing will change.

In a way it's kind of sad. Unfortunately it's because of some of the emotos crowd that they have led to the glare of society, which has led to regulations on battery-operated cycles.
The positive thing about battery-operated cycles is that it is getting way more people outside cycling and just being exposed to being outside instead of stuck on screens, doomscrolling.
Also because of the big surge in cycling, there are cities who are changing their roads to better accommodate micro mobility with changing roads, making them safer for everyone
