bring it to the US you cowards
Perth_R34@reddit
It's not coming to Australia either, and Australia is Toyota country.
The old 2.7 doesn't meet the latest emissions standards.
nothingtoseehere_69@reddit
I think once they put the Hilux diesel in a year or two then it could possibly go there
EagleEye_2000@reddit
I would hazard a guess its going to be the 2.8L 1GD-FTV.
piddydb@reddit
I swear they’re not releasing it in the US solely to spite Americans
kstetter@reddit
Americans also don't have the real LandCrusier, only the Prado
Vanzmelo@reddit
Technically do with the Lexus variant
CelebrationPuzzled90@reddit
Holy fuck lmfao
andrewjaekim@reddit
I wonder how the size of this compares to a Jimmy.
nothingtoseehere_69@reddit
A lot bigger after seeing one in person in Thailand On numbers it’s 1 meter longer than a 3-door Jimny, 200mm taller and wider, and humans can actually sit in the back
Think of its overall size between Corolla Cross and RAV4
andygchicago@reddit
That's kinda perfect for most people
nothingtoseehere_69@reddit
Yeah from what I've seen, it just feels more like a normal daily driver that happens to be able to go off-road like a Land Cruiser than something like a Jimny. Bascially a Prado that's been lobotomized and given parts from a Hilux.
Capri280@reddit
It's based on the IMV platform, which underpins the Hilux. The Jimny is either a kei car, a hopped up kei car with fender flares or a stretched kei car with fender flares depending on which variant you buy.
kstetter@reddit
600mm longer than the Jimny XL
boogatehPotato@reddit
I wonder if this is basically a scaled up Hilux Champ with LC flavor.
nothingtoseehere_69@reddit
Kinda, but the whole experience is closer to a high-spec Hilux and Fortuner than a Champ in terms of driving it.
clioris_luteca@reddit
It'll either be new Fortuner or another legacy model like IMV Innova. I don't follow rumors closely so I banked on the former.
emceelokey@reddit
If this is around the size of a Jeep Renegade, I WANT IT!!!!! Bring that I the U.S., Toyota! You cowards!!!!
Sal_Undee@reddit
The wheelbase seems a bit short for the body. The overhang in front looks awkward since the wheels are set so far back.
nothingtoseehere_69@reddit
My friends got to test drive it in Thailand and it’s a pretty usable daily driver on the road, like somehow one of them and several local journalists said it’s even quieter than a Corolla Cross. There’s enough modern stuff to just drive to work like a normal compact SUV
Although currently the weak point rn is that this engine is too underpowered (there will be a diesel coming next year) and too thirsty, even if it’s designed for longevity in mind
UmaThurmish@reddit
4 doors fuck that not an FJ
TealPotato@reddit
I completely agree:
A school bus holds what- 60-70 people? It only has two doors, counting the emergency exit in the back.
We don't need a gazillion doors.
kstetter@reddit
That's a random rumour about the Camaro
nothingtoseehere_69@reddit
Because it’s not an FJ Cruiser successor in anyway shape or form
It’s a Land Cruiser FJ, and tbh it’s way closer in spirit to a mix of the original RAV4 and Land Cruiser 250
DocPhilMcGraw@reddit
The last FJ Cruiser wasn’t a 2 door either. It had 4 doors.
Also, historically there was a 4-door FJ model known as the FJ45V which was eventually replaced by the FJ55.
Capri280@reddit
Amusing to see that the novelty tricycle has its dimensions listed but the car doesn't.
