I’m looking to get a Sports Pilot certification and/or Recreational Pilot Cert. purly from a hobby standpoint. Any feedback about this academy? Instructors? And aircraft conditions?

Read the federal air regulations about the privileges afforded sport and recreational pilot certificates.
You’ll quickly see why hardly any recreational certificates are applied for.

Thanks for the tip! Do you think a sport is the better way to go here? Or is it worth looking into private options as well?

The FAA issued about 184,000 airman certificates last year. Of those 184,000, two were recreational pilot certs.
Two. 2. Not a typo.
You're not getting a recreational cert.
If you are able to hold an FAA medical certificate, get a private pilot certificate.

I would recommend private. Far fewer restrictions. I also do not recommend Sling...they don't have a great reputation. Feel free to private message me if you would like some more info. I am a CFI in San Diego and can help you get going in the right direction.
