In my family and friend group, when we first discovered the word we had a quick discussion about it and "rightfully" came to the decision that it is a bridge between generation x and millennial, therefore the x needed to stand out phonetically to avoid confusion with gen z.

Who is to say what is accurate in that regard?

In my head it sounds like zennials because I used Xena, warrior princess as a reference point, but the long e sound doesnt work so it softens into an n sound.

Makes perfect sense to me. And ive never even seen another post or knew there was argument over it but I am definitely not ever going to go the x-files route and call it x-ennial.

That sounds like we are collectively trying to play superhero in my head and I'm too tired to do that anymore.

I also don't ever forsee actually saying it out loud so it never occurred to me that people would really care how other people pronounce it. Im certainly not going to correct anyone else.

If I hear someone say x-ennial I will immediately mentally put you in superman color tights and picture you trying to take to the sky just to have a knee give out and your back crack really loud in a painful way tho 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm not following what youre saying.

Why do you think it has to have the r sound in there? If that even is what you're saying. Especially because giraffe has a sound between the g and the r so that isnt an example that clicks for me.

It seems more like if they wanted the Jif sound they should have used a j. Would be less confusing.

I am also not sure what side you are arguing for though.
