I can’t be the only one

Surely someone else has thought about hanging a hammock in a trailer while on break. Gotta make the most of it, stretch out and kick off the boots for a quick minute.
Individual-Mango-129@reddit
I have a sitting hammock that I hang on my crane when the weather is nice
Economy_Side9662@reddit
I just get in the bunk. I've got a special memory foam, gel, and inner spring mattress.

Do you have the Amazon link?

Damn, the lot lizards gotta love that!
They hate my mattress, I just have paper machet cardboard filled with moldy hotdog buns from the loves dumpsters.

As someone who works rock n roll concerts, I regularly do this in the back of our trailers as their parked at the loading docks. I have a couple of e-track rings that I clip my hammock carabiners to, mainly to protect the carabiners from wearing out. I can get a really solid nap in with a little sway if I push against some of the storage cases we keep.

I saw a dude at a truck stop once who strung one UNDER his trailer and was just hanging out in the cool spring air, hovering inches from the piss stained blacktop. Does that count?
forkystabbyveggie@reddit
Why does the phrase "piss stained black top" make me think of the flying j in Laredo?
la_zarzamora@reddit
Why wouldn't it?
Fuzzy1598@reddit
Hell yeah! I do it when the weather is nice!
scottiethegoonie@reddit
Drivers have gotten fired for that. Not sure why.
Eatmymustardsauce@reddit
I wouldn’t want to work for a company that’s that strict anyhow.
13_Silver_Dollars@reddit
How are they supposed to find out?
forkystabbyveggie@reddit
Snitches complaining about everything
Slater_8868@reddit
Taking your federally mandated rest period?
mtthwdlln@reddit (OP)
I might just give that a try tomorrow at my morning delivery. Hopefully the cross members hold good and I don’t get crushed by a forklift lol
tinkdatank@reddit
I do this regularly through the summer, UPS forces us to take a full hour meal so I'll pop it up if there's any empties around where I'm sent to
Ok_Bug_6470@reddit
Too bad you don’t have a bed in the truck
That_albanese@reddit
I sleep wit one in my tank wagon day cab. I slept a month In sc/fl during the hurricanes
SayNoToFatties@reddit
I'm a rural rear load garbage driver. On nice days, I'll find a soft spot in the grass and lay out and catch a quick snooze for my 30.
december151791@reddit
Truck stops have killed my trust in grassy areas.
Luigi_Dagger@reddit
Before I got my license I rode with my buddy to see what its about. He only had one bunk in his truck so we rigged a hammock inside the cab and his scrawny ass took the hammock. Actually worked fairly well and it was a pretty fun run
dontdoxmebro2@reddit
Do you not have a much comfortable bunk with actual climate control? And not … a hammock in an oven?

I’m local in a day cab with an afternoon appointment where I can’t show up more than 10 minutes early. This was on company property with the back doors cracked open and on a windy day. Obviously the conditions were just right to make it happen today. It’s not the plan for everyday lol
Auquaholic@reddit
When I hauled reefer, I napped in the trailer while the shop worked on my truck ac in the middle of summer.
i-eat-coochie@reddit
Was it running
Auquaholic@reddit
Yeah, it was hot outside.
Pitiful_Yogurt_5276@reddit
Nah fuck that.
I having a camping cot so I can be outside. I spend enough time in my truck
ooglieguy0211@reddit
You're not.
TruckinTuba@reddit
I have never been parked with an empty van, where I wasn't able to drive my car home 😅 that being said I have taken a nap on a flatbed under a Genie lift
reducethedebt@reddit
I made a moving blanket bed once ..... About 15-20 moving blankets and took a good snooze while people were trying to remove their head out of their ass at a dock.
whodat209@reddit
You wouldn’t be doing that in the high desert it’d have to be pretty nice weather where you’re at
Charlie_Hustler@reddit
Hell nah. I got a daycab Hammock for this exact reason. Just slide the little bars onto the doors and shut them and boom. Nicer and more comfortable. They even make em with 400lb weight limits so even the bigger truckers can use them 😂😂👌
Few_Jacket845@reddit
Daycab hammock?? I've considered a hammock under my flatbed if I need to make a regional run, but I'll have to look into that! Only places I would feel sort of okay sleeping under the truck would be a quiet rest area or something. But you better believe I'd be cuddling my .45
XGrimmcommandoX@reddit
It has crossed my mind, but I’ve never done it.
Vegetable_Plant2214@reddit
Maybe Im crazy but when i want to “stretch out and kick the boots off” i take two steps to my sleep and get in bed
mtthwdlln@reddit (OP)
Some days I am very envious of otr/sleeper dudes. Almost to the point where I jump ship and give it a try but I’m local, with a union and the gig is pretty sweet.
DDGBuilder@reddit
Hammock in the trailer is peak Union [approvingly]
Typical-Decision-273@reddit
I'm in the hammock you cant stop me
FrmrMtt23@reddit
When I was a young warthog stacking (chucking) packages for a certain large Brown carrier, we would make balls out of cardboard and duct tape and play baseball in the back of these
RaphealWannabe@reddit
Well I guess you could, but I'd be worried about my personal safety and or busy bodies (cops) raising hell about it.
Its a clever idea, but I wouldn't have the audacity to try it myself.
Exciting-Car-3516@reddit
Worry about cops for what? Dude that’s insane to say
RaphealWannabe@reddit
Making a fuss, telling you that you can't do that but not giving you a reason why, just that you can't do that or else. People in authority don't need a reason to abuse it, some a bullies who never grew up, some are busy bodies who can't leave well enough alone and some are just on a power trip.
These days everything seems to be a criminal offense of some kind.
Like I said, its a very clever idea and more power to you for doing it, I just wouldn't be brave enough to try it myself because sooner or later some ass-hat is going to make a issue out of it, simply because!
Exciting-Car-3516@reddit
Me? I ain’t gonna hang anything like that in my trailer boy. My trailer is never empty. I’m out here to make money not to relax. I guess I meant to say do not be intimidated by some jabroni just because they have a gun and badge. There is literally no law about lounging in your own mother effin trailer. It wouldn’t hold up in a court of law so just relax
mtthwdlln@reddit (OP)
To be fair, I only have done this in the company yard while on lunch. Used a carabiner clip on the doors so they were still opened but not able to swing out.
Come to think of it, I’d never pull this stunt off of company property lol. That’s definitely asking for problems.
