De Lisle

This is one of the more interesting parts of the De Lisle design that I wasn’t aware of until digging into it. It’s a muzzle device with a tube attached that diverts the gasses from the ports to the rear. The front end is flared, creating what I’ve read is a “German muzzle.” It’s definitely an odd part and I’m not sure if it actually helps with suppression but it’s how the original was done.

That's a lot of parts

There’s still a lot more to go, too. 13 baffles, a bunch of spacers, end caps for both ends of the suppressor tube, muzzle insert, baffle rods, rear/front sight, etc. I try to just focus on one part at a time otherwise it’s overwhelming.

For sure. I want to build one but after seeing al the work you're putting into it I might just buy a reproduction. The thing is that they're so expensive, however I now see why.

If you’re wanting to make it accurate to the original then it’s probably worth just buying a repro but if you’re ok with making a De Lisle-esque build it isn’t that hard. There’s the Rhineland arms kits, availability is just rough, and since it’s .45 you don’t need to port the barrel. I’ve even seen people do a 16” and faux suppressor tube. Not my style but I don’t blame anyone for not wanting to put 50+ hours into a gun.

I have the kit and was going to cut the barrel and all that. But since I do want the real thing I might as well spend the cash. You really should consider putting it together as a kit that someone can buy and put it together themselves.

Please send pictures of how the thing goes together and the supressor and this fully disassembled as this has always been a cool oddity I wanted to learn about.
I thought the first photo was the chamber and that this was like a two piece barrel setup. I’d love to learn more on this thing. Haven’t seen it before.

Once I’m done with it I’m going to post pictures of the internals and everything assembled because it’s pretty wild to see. I never thought it’d be this crazy when I started out on this project.
