While I like iced tea...and not that disgustingly sweet stuff...sorry people but I still like my regular coffee (Starbucks black card holder).
IWantTheLastSlice@reddit
Starbucks is as bitter as my ex girlfriend. Feel like I have to drown it in sugar to kill that taste.
They used the Blonde roast which wasn’t that bad.
mmoonbelly@reddit
Just promise me a couple of things :
1 - Kettle. Use a kettle for th’ water. Microwaves are verboten.
2 - get a decent tea. If water’s bad quality in your area Yorkshire tea gives a very decent brew
3 - let tea brew for 3-5 mins in 100’C water (212 degrees of yer former freedom units)
4 - take out the teabag before adding the milk. (Unless you’re being la-di-da and using a pot and leaf tea)
5 - best use semi-skimmed milk (2%)
Volume : average cups of teas drunk per person in the UK is about 6 to 7 per day.
Get a Sports Direct mug for your tea.

Rebuild your stomach acid. And for quick relief, drink some apple cider vinegar with some water. Make it as strong as you can handle.
Pickle juice can do same thing.
jsamuraij@reddit
Wut. Can you elaborate on "rebuild your stomach acid?" Got a link or something?
Mindes13@reddit
You can take Betaine HCl with Pepsin.
Most gerd is caused by weak stomach wcid, not too strong acid. The weak acid doesn't trigger the esophageal sphincter to close allowing the stomach acid to splash up causing heartburn, etc.
Moist_Sprinkles1063@reddit
Uh iced coffee anyone?
Luvsseattle@reddit
Laughs in perimenopause. Caffeine is a rollercoaster.
KnottyCatLady@reddit
Out of curiosity, how so? I'm in peri & haven't noticed a change in how coffee/caffeine affects me....but maybe I'm attributing symptoms to the wrong thing. Nothing works right anymore.
RussellAlden@reddit
Gave up all dairy, milk, butter, cheese. Always been a tea drinker. Strangely Malort was the only thing that would temper my heartburn.
jsamuraij@reddit
Malort gang rise up
I_am_ChivoBlanco@reddit
Unfortunately, Malort makes me rise up, but not in a good way.
It sounds the same way coming up as it does when you order it, FYI.
I_am_ChivoBlanco@reddit
Stop making me feel old, I have to get back to my Cribbage game.
conscientiousrevolt@reddit
Tea can have just as much caffeine 😬
emiliethestranger@reddit
Try Yorkshire Gold tea and Barry's Irish tea. I find Irish tea to be especially smooth.
MuddyPig168@reddit
54 and still drink 2 -3 cups of coffee a day. Stomach doesn't bother me. And tea just doesn't do it for me except for an occasional cup of green tea with my wife or Sleepytime herbal tea when i want to relax at bedtime.
My wife grew up drinking green tea in China and never really got into coffee, but she's always gently chided me on my coffee habit for the entire time we've been married. For her, coffee "makes [her] drunk". She seems extremely caffeine sensitive.

I drink 1, 30 Oz Yeti every day...had my non working gallbladder removed 22 years ago. No issues.
Serious-Maximum-1049@reddit
Same! Lost my gallbladder nearly 30 years ago!
kevtay1969@reddit
I was a 2 pot coffee drinker, had to switch to tea. Wouldn’t go back for the world. I found tea to be more flavor, so many varieties. I prefer Twinnings Irish breakfast for mornings, Earl gray for noon and evenings.
So happy I switched a few years ago.
Serious-Maximum-1049@reddit
Twinnings is honestly 🔥.
CrankyDoo@reddit
My GERD mostly evaporated once I lost all my excess weight. I was taking 40mg of omeprazole daily and if I didn’t it felt like someone had lit a torch in my stomach. After I lost my excess weight, I no longer needed them (although I did have to taper off, that rebound effect is a motherfucker)
Newsman1977@reddit
Congrats. Always a tough hill to climb.
MajYoshi@reddit
Hey, dude. Just want to say, "Right on!"
That is all, keep carrying on.
ApatheistHeretic@reddit
Oof, maybe not GERD but I do have pain that I thought was some deep seated chest infection. Turned out to be resolved by Omeprazole and less drinking. Doc picked it out almost immediately when I pointed to where it was.
Punawild@reddit
Have you tried cold brew? It is *wayyyyy* less acidic.
oobknarf@reddit (OP)
I have not! Might give it a try. Thanks !
Punawild@reddit
No problem. Hope it helps. You can get cold brew jars with filters for $20 and once you figure out the water-coffee ratio that fits your tastes buds AND your stomach it’s easy.
busybox42@reddit
I have drank black coffee all my life... I have to put milk it in now or my stomach dies.
onemorebutfaster_74@reddit
I just cut way back on coffee. I was wondering why my stomach was all f-ed up. Turns out that drinking 3 or 4 cups of black coffee on an empty stomach isn't a good idea. And I've been doing that since my 20s. Now I have a cup of green tea, workout, eat, then I have one cup of coffee, not black anymore but with a bit of oatmilk. Stomach is back to normal. But I still get to have a little coffee.
rrrrrrez@reddit
Not to mention tea tastes so much better.
Independent-Dark-955@reddit
I’m diagnosed with it but seem to manage it by limiting it to one single espresso a day. I’ve also stopped cooking with onions. I used to make almost every meal have half a chopped onion. I will still use green onions and try to not go overboard with garlic and chiles. Limit grease, limit fats or rich foods. Limit citrus/juices. Drink kombucha and take a probiotic supplement.
Independent-Dark-955@reddit
(Also just lost +10% of my body weight)
OhHelvetica73@reddit
It hit me hard right around the start of Covid. I switched to Counter Culture coffee and found that something about it was significantly less acidic but still tastes amazing. Cut out all sodas, including sparkling water (so much citric acid!) and no tomato-based foods after 3pm. I feel so geriatric.
jk_pens@reddit
You know what’s odd, black tea has always bothered my stomach more than black coffee. Maybe it’s the tannins?
don51181@reddit
I’m doing that now in my 40’s. Heartburn was too scary for me so I cut that coffee out quickly after that started.
Tea with some honey has helped me in a lot of ways. It’s much easier on my stomach.
Downtown_Anteater_38@reddit
I am right there with you, OP, except I am allergic to coffee, but I have had to give up anything carbonated.
Alot2unpack@reddit
Got this surgically corrected 12 years ago. Unfortunately it was so I could get the very trendy lap band surgery done. Fml. Both procedures were successful, but I should have known better than participating in a weight loss process that everyone was doing! 12 years later I’m stuck with it, no one services them in the US, it’s probably eroding and it’s full, so I can’t even enjoy food lol.
