I bought a manual Ferrari 360 Spider because my 981 Cayman S and ND2 Miata didn't have enough trunk space

That’s one hell of a midlife crisis purchase. A gated manual Ferrari is hard to argue with, especially when it comes with a good story behind it. Enjoy every shift.

This guy cars.
regardballs@reddit
great read! always thought the 360 was the cool attainable Ferrari.
SwissMargiela@reddit
Ya there’s also A LOT of videos of people working on these and figuring out how to bypass the need for specialized tools. Def not a beginner or even intermediate car to work on, but it’s definitely possible for the average joe to maintain and fix one in their garage if they’re diligent.
caterham09@reddit
It's currently attainable, but if it follows the standard Ferrari trajectory, then it won't be for long
John_Sux@reddit
Every kid and grandpa in California owns a Ferrari, that's how it looks from across the ocean

lmao this guy lives

I would love a video of the exhaust note
Random12multi@reddit
Careful with that exhaust, CHP is getting better at picking out these kinda things. Especially in O.C., they have task forces with checkpoints down there now.
Congrats on the car and nice touches you've done to it!
Bepus@reddit
Fun write up, but your title makes no sense. The Cayman has nearly double the cargo volume of the 360.

is joke

Great story and great read! Congrats!
tlease181@reddit
Brilliant. Combine all three trunks and you have the trunk space of a normal passenger car. That's a hack
verdegrrl@reddit
Congrats!
Beware the suspension bottoming out in a turn, which has the effect of launching the car towards the outside of the corner. The Challenge Stradale avoids this, but at the expense of a much firmer ride.

I'm quite familiar with this sensation lol
I think it's part of the reason why I like the car
willc2580@reddit
Did your ND2 have a Bilstein shocks?
HURCANADA@reddit (OP)
I do. Borderline dangerous on track but too much fun on the road, so I'm keeping them up. Driver mod on the track is more important anyways, still enough time on the table for me to keep getting better in a stock ND (THill East PB is 2:16)
Spicywolff@reddit
Good chances he does. They’re nothing special though trust me. The roly-poly body is one thing, but the shocks are not exactly great. They’re good for a very compromise factory set up, but if you’re actually pushing, they’re not very well controlled, especially for how soft the springs are.
I have them on mine while the Ohlins long strokes are being rebuilt and revalved. Even with the Steiffer spring rate, Ohlins ride better
cilantno@reddit
Almost certainly. All non-sport ND2s have Bilsteins, and OP doesn’t seem the sort to by the base model without the LSD.
verdegrrl@reddit
Hahaha!

This or an Emira....that's been my debate. By the time I'm in the market though next year the 360s are going to be out of my price range unless we hit a major recession.
lique_madique@reddit
That’s why I finally bought my 599 to manual swap and already values have gone up like 20% from what I paid 3 months ago. I’m also shocked how numb the car is stock. The steering in particular is taking me a minute to learn since it’s light, ultra quick, twitchy, and numb for a hydraulic rack all in one go. I will say I do love the car but if engaging is what you want, an emira is my pick.
TheWolfofBinance@reddit
It's quite shocking, because my Giulia Quadrifoglio literally feels more engaging than the 458 spider I drove. Sound aside I'd rather take my Giulia on a tight twisty road, I couldn't for the life of me read the 458.
lique_madique@reddit
I mean the giulia QF is the sedan cheat code and criminally underrated in my opinion but the Ferrari numb is always shocking. I was thinking about selling a few cars to condense to a 458 and was shocked by the numbness of it so I figured fuck it I want a straight piped manual v12 which will make up for the lack of connection with the car.
I’m a big fan of the emira. Stock it’s amazing and modded will blow your mind.
TheWolfofBinance@reddit
I got downvoted to oblivion on the Ferrari sub for saying the 458 is numb. I don't even think it sounded that good, the F430 and 360CS had a much better and more organic tone. If rather have the 599 at least you're getting that v12. Good choice.
HURCANADA@reddit (OP)
I don't know what's going on but values are already cooked for the 360. A medium-low mileage one similar to mine just went for $245K on BaT. It's a cool car but for that money I'd take a Miata and a lifetime of In N Out any day and be just as happy lol
TheWolfofBinance@reddit
I'm hoping to import a cheap one from Japan or something and then manually swap it myself. I could never justify 170k+ for a 360. Its ridiculous. I might just go with the Emira as well. It's really come down to these two.

No pics of the trunk?
verdegrrl@reddit
The trunk is all engine. The frunk however....

And yet all of r/cars will tell you the corvette team is dumb for having to fit 2 golf bags in the vette.
Congrats dude. The 360 and 430 are my 2 favorite v8 Ferrari. I love the car and the color. Really hope you enjoy it
