American Airlines was actually one of the launch customers of the BAC 111 in 1965 and operated them until 1973. Had they been around for a little long, at least a few would have received the new livery.

Probably. I mean, by 1965, American was already operating the Boeing 727, and since the US isn’t Europe, it makes sense why the BAC’s were soon phased out. Interestingly, USAir operated them all the way until 1989.

'89!? God damn, USAir was admittedly such a strange company and arguably continues to fuck AA to this day. How Doug Parker ended up running the entire thing after 2013 is still a mystery to me.
