Performance drop after upgrading PSU

I had a failing PSU, very loud while gaming (coil whine) and kept getting worse. Replaced it this weekend with a stronger one, from 700W to 1000W (be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 1000W Power Supply)
After I replaced it, using all the new cables, ive noticed a few things:
My temps when gaming are now quite a bit lower on both my cpu and gpu. Gpu went from 85 under load to 76. I also now get quite a few frame drops when playing Nightreign, the game which i had no performance issues prior, but would cause the old PSU to whine VERY loudly.
TLDR: Replacing the PSU got rid of the coil whine i heard while gaming, which obviously was failing. But with this new, upgraded PSU, I now have performance drops despite seeing cooler temps now.
Any ideas of what this could be?

Maybe disconnecting psu did reset bios? Check if xmp is enabled... Also why 1kw psu when your pc is taking max 350-400w...🤔?

Doesnt seem like i have that option at all in BIOS. checked in easy and advanced mode in Tweaker. Simply nothing there. But i appreciate the effort

It's a memory profile, when at default ram speed is lowered to jedec spec but with xmp enabled it will run at advertised speed (usually faster and often with tighter timings). Lower gpu tem could mean that gpu runs at lower clocks for some reason. Are you sure everything is connected right?

Fairly certain. I don't see how it could be running unless it was, but i verified i plugged everything in that previously had a plug.
My bios hasnt been updated since 2019. I wonder if that's why I cant find the xmp setting. I'll look again after work.
That being said, my GPU goes to 98% load when gaming, and sits at less than 80C, according to my NZXT. So gpu seems to be running fine. System seems to be pinging well, which is the strange bit

Gigabyte rolled out bios updates for z390 on June 2025 patching vulnerabilities so it is highly recommended to update to the latest version. It won't fix performance issues but at least should properly reset bios and then you can setup ram profile, cpu oc/undervolt, rebar, etc.

Will look into it. Thanks for the help!

Future proofing the pc. Was only $20 more and i do plan on a better gpu and cpu in the coming years. Better safe than sorry.
Ill check that. Thank you
