GOAT soundtrack.

Use it to fall asleep. Horner was my favorite, field of dreams as all
Evening_Ad_1099@reddit
That song playing over the credits was a very memorable experience. I love this movie.
Lord-Curriculum@reddit
James Horner... What else did this guy do? Hmmmmmmm.
FenPhen@reddit
A lot, but the most memorable ones are arguably Glory, Braveheart, Apollo 13, Titanic, and Mask of Zorro.
Darkspiff73@reddit
As soon as I saw the post I could hear it.
WannabeCanadian1738@reddit
Such a great movie!

My freshman physics professor showed us the "3 aimed shots in a minute" clip. Our homework problems were our "training", and his exams were where we needed to "fire 3 aimed shots in a minute".
When I was 18 I thought he was a pompous ass. Now, I realize what he was trying to do. This was at an engineering school. Classes were tough. Many of us, myself included, were about to hit our first real challenge in our education.

Oh my lord lord lord lord mmmmmmmmhmmmm
PIG20@reddit
This was my favorite movie of all time when I was in middle school.
So much so, that my parents thought I was going to pack my bags, head to Gettysburg, and spend my life participating in Civil War reenactments.
Darkspiff73@reddit
My parents took me to Gettysburg on the way to DC for a family vacation when I was around 10. My dad was a huge Civil War buff and even at a young age it left an impression on me. I’d like to go back as an adult and look around again.
dominator5k@reddit
This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The main dude is such a bad actor.
muhredditone@reddit
Wow, I thought I was the only one. I've thought for years nobody liked it.
audiate@reddit
Had to get a permission slip signed so I could watch this in the cafeteria with the rest of the 8th grade class.
Scrapla1@reddit
Still gives me goosebumps!
AdRadiant9379@reddit
This movie got me obsessed with the civil war. I was reading 2-3 books a week on the subject. I knew the battles, the casualty counts, the generals. Still my favorite civil war movie all time
DarthWeber@reddit
My 8th grade history teacher had us watch it. It's so impactful on so many levels

"And what are you? So full of hate you want to go out and fight everybody! Because you've been whipped and chased by hounds. Well that might not be living, but it sure as hell ain't dying. And dying's been what these white boys have been doing for going on three years now! Dying by the thousands! Dying for you, fool! I know, 'cause I dug the graves. And all this time I keep askin' myself, when, O Lord, when it's gonna be our time? Gonna come a time when we all gonna hafta ante up. Ante up and kick in like men. LIKE MEN! You watch who you call a n!@@3r! If there's any n!@@3rs around here, it's YOU. Just a smart-mouthed, stupid-ass, swamp-runnin' n!@@3r! And if you not careful, that's all you ever gonna be!"
This quote lives rent free in my brain.
Thereminz@reddit
remember that part when some guys head gets blown up
Lurk_McGirt79@reddit (OP)
Yup! He's screaming something like "STEADY BOYS" and then BLAM!!! First movie decapitation I ever saw. It left an impression.
sey5_venn@reddit
We watched part of this movie in my high school history class. I don't think I really appreciated it at the time. I should get this.
PIG20@reddit
We watched Glory in Middle School a handful of times. Then, the main movie shown in highschool was Schindlers List.
Quimbymouse@reddit
The civil war buffs always went on and on about the hardly disguised lost cause propaganda movie that is 'Gettysburg'...but this movie right here was it.
Author_Dent@reddit
My parents took me to see this when I was 9. It left a significant impression on me. I would not, however, show this to my 9-year-old today. He’d be terrified.
smokythejoker@reddit
Great! Now I’m f—ing crying.

It definitely sticks with you for a lifetime after watching it at 10 years old. I loved growing up in Boston and feeling so close to so much of history.
YogurtclosetDull2380@reddit
Broderick is exposed as a truly terrible actor in this movie.
chumrunner@reddit
I will always watch it if it's on.
AcanthisittaSafe3340@reddit
Probably still the best representation of civil war combat IMO. Saw it when I was probably too young but I saw a lot of movies that I was too young growing up in the 80s and 90s
ryhoyarbie@reddit
The track “The Year of Jubilee” is great. The scene is awesome with the troops marching in the street to once confederate soil looking at the kids and townspeople that used to be slaves who now have a burst of energy, confidence, and happiness.

I grew up in SC, and I never knew this movie existed until I was an adult. It took me apart the first time I saw it. It isn’t flawless, but it’s certainly emotional, and it actually made me think, really think, about what war looks like to those who fight it, which wars are worth fighting, how often soldiers are considered expendable, the nuances of “patriotism,” and the high cost of living battles but winning the war. Not to mention how good the filmmaking is.
Adorable_Dig2556@reddit
MAN I love this movie.
rearwindowpup@reddit
Absolutely stellar movie. Great cast, great writing, great cinematography, 10/10, no notes.

I can't talk about Glory without gushing over the soundtrack.
