Interesting night currency hypothetical

I am in Iceland right now and the sun never really sets to the point that it is dark out at night. This led to a shower thought of could I do my night currency and log 0 night time…
I looked at the KEF (Keflavík) sun chart on ForeFlight and if says that sunset is at 10:35PM and evening civil twilight begins at 12:10AM.
For night landings to count for currency they have to be done between 1 hour after sunset and 1 hour before sunrise. By that logic I have \~40 minutes between when I can log night landings and when civil twilight (when you start logging night time) starts so theoretically I could do my entire night currency all while being “day” VFR.
Obviously Iceland probably has different regulations surrounding night time and currency and whatnot but I also checked Fairbanks Alaska and it has a much larger window in the morning.
Am I missing something here or is this legit? Obviously I have no intention of doing this for real, I seldom fly at night now but I find it funny that it’s possible.

If you can log as per FAA rules.
For EASA, Night is defined as the time between ECET and BCMT.
So only 00:10 to 02:35 would count as night for me.

Gee thanks, now there's some 141 CFI out there that's about to use this example to fail someone at a stage check.

Why they gotta do that shit 😭

Alaska does have this problem in the summer. We even have a carve out in 61.110 for night flying to get a PPL. I missed the window for my night cross country/landings due to weather...so I'll have a "no night flying" restriction assuming I can do my checkride before the end of summer. There are a lot of "exceptions" and carve outs in the FAR/AIM for Alaska. Certainly fun learning to fly up here.

I wasn't even imagining the flying stuff back then, but I was stationed in Homer for a spell. That very long day, very long night thing was rather crazy to experience!

I'm in Los Anchorage using Land and Sea out of Merrill. Planes are in good shape, CFIs are good, rental rates are very reasonable. Just need the WX to cooperate which has been a struggle this spring.

It's like that in the Arctic in North America as well, I've posted about it here before. We can't log any night time during the summer because the sun doesn't legally set anywhere we fly except CYFB.
In the winter it's the reverse, the sun sets at 2:00 pm or so in YFB, and doesn't come up anywhere else we fly, so we log a lot of night time flying all day.

Tangential wild fact: Iceland is (partly) in North America.

According to EASA, which Iceland is a part of, night landings can be logged between 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise. The same rule applies to log night time. So it isn't a issue at all there. But pretty interesting thought.

Iceland definitely does not have night vfr, but otherwise you’re correct. Interestingly enough I’ve re-hacked night currency on aerial refueling near there while the sun was trying to blind me. The sun is no longer below the horizon at that time of year when you’re above 20,000. You can however live your dream up in Alaska. Take pictures!

Ah yes, the fun of scrambling for the NVGs when the tanker turns west. “Can I just put some toilet paper tubes on my face and call that good?”

Currently in Alaska... It's very bright
