Just for future reference, this is a bad idea in terms of fire safety. No one will know you're in there, so no one is coming to rescue you if there's a fire, and fire exits might be locked for the night.
Nobody knows who's in a building in a fire anyway, except if you have controlled entry/exit and even then it's hard to avoid e.g. tailgaiting. In a fire people will do reasonable checks to see if there's someone in and get on with in.
Yes, but there's a difference between a library that's closed at night and a house, for example. If you're deliberately hiding in a room no one expects you to be in, it's unlikely anyone will find you on the way out.
Sorry how tf is a nights sleep better than a cheat sheet? I get you’re taking the moral high ground but a nights sleep isn’t going to give OP the answers to the questions in black and white.
My youngest was a baby while I was finishing my exams and he never slept more than an hour so I did sod all revision. I went into a nuclear reactor physics exam having had literally zero sleep where he mostly cried all night. I found an hour to make a tiny cheat sheet to take in with me and made my way to the hall looking like an extra for a budget zombie movie and I passed the exam. I promise you, it was the cheat sheet. If I had slept all night, I still wouldn’t have known the answers. With the benefit of hindsight, if I had to do it all again, i would still prioritise my family and maybe make a bigger cheat sheet.
Of course a cheat sheet is good, but by the sounds of it OP is spending hours making it perfect. If you have no sleep a perfect cheat sheet is not going to be better for you than being well rested and having a cheat sheet you spend half as long on
Don't really want to be judgemental as that obviously isn't constructive, but I have to admit I'm wondering why you've left it until literally the night before the exam to prepare it?
Anyway, I still think the advice above stands. Don't spend that long making the cheat sheet. Call it and get to bed ASAP now. You're running on nerves and adrenaline now, so it feels like you're best off staying up, but your body is lying to you - in the morning you will crash and feel terrible.
I was very 'fear motivated' as a student and would leave everything til last minute. I passed but it was very stressful and as an older person now, I wish I'd just forced myself to be more organised and study sooner/more frequently. Hindsight, eh?
I wasn't planning on doing this I made all my notes and started at 12pm today the cheat sheet but I didn't realise it would take this long (I'm cramming every single thing from the lectures into these 4 pages) minus anything that's not needed because I havent revised for this exam (been unwell for past 6 months)
Okay. I'm sorry to hear you've been unwell, that sounds really tough. It sounds like you are slightly in panic mode right now, so let's try and approach this as best we can.
I'll be blunt: cramming is well known to be an ineffective learning strategy and realistically, it is not likely that you will take in, understand and retain an entire year's worth of course content in one night. What you knew before this night is probably all you are going to know in the exam, and staying up to perfect your cheat sheet is a waste of your time and energy. I hope you can find that to be freeing rather than demoralising. Exams are important but they're not the be all end all of your life - you are so much more than this grade.
Genuinely, the best thing you can do for yourself right now is sleep so that your brain is functioning properly tomorrow and you can give it your best shot. What will be will be. After the exam, you should research your uni's policies on extenuating circumstances through illness, and consider reaching out to your student union and personal tutor for advice. There is support available. Wishing you the best.
I hope your exam went well OP, If I saw this earlier I would have suggested don’t commute, sleep in the car or call a friend for a couch and a blanket but I guess it’s all water under the bridge now
Yes! Best friend drove us from London to Brighton once when we were 18. Parked up and tried to sleep. Coldest I’ve ever felt in my life. Caught the sunrise though
Bit late now but if you're in this predicament in future, get a cheap hotel room or air b&b, it's probably not going to be much more expensive than the cost of fuel used for driving 3 hours.
Are there any sofas etc on your campus? I’m not against the car as much as other people but I would wonder if it would be easier to crash in the library etc, which I used to do during a night time study session.

Get a hotel or go home now. You'll get zero sleep in the car.
In ten years you won't remember the money you spent on the hotel but you might remember the exam result!

Is your uni library open 24/7? If so, you could sleep there. Mine was, but I’m sure it varies by university

In most knowledge jobs you can refere to outside information to support your decision processes.
The decision not to prepare for this exam until the night before however....
lfcsupkings321@reddit

And OP inadvertently makes the important point.
I'm sure anyone over a certain age remembers being told constantly "You won't always have a calculator with you when you're older".
That aged well.
oscarx-ray@reddit
How much do you usually sleep in at night?
hurriyafaith@reddit (OP)
4-8 hours
oscarx-ray@reddit
Write until you've got five hours left, shut down immediately, and consume your normal level of caffeine of sugar in the morning then.
FornyHucker22@reddit

It will be miserable and cold in the car overnight. I hope you came to your senses.
hurriyafaith@reddit (OP)
I'm in the library just gonna try take a nap in the silent zone I got kicked out of the other rooms on campus because they are cleaning
butt3rflycaught@reddit
At least you’re not in the cold car. Did you complete the cheat sheet? Try and sleep a little bit if you can, it will help with the exam. Good luck.
hurriyafaith@reddit (OP)
No I'm planning to nap till 7am and the. Finish off in the morning

If you go for the car option you'll find you don't sleep for anymore than like an hour
Virtual_Opinion_8630@reddit
sleep in the library?
ArgumentativeNutter@reddit
get a hotel, sleeping in your car never works out unless you've got a great sleeping bag and an estate
Key_Cell7071@reddit
If it's only one night why not just pay the money for a hotel and maximise your chances of getting a good sleep?
