For me, it would be a wheelchair accessible version for family road trips.
Guy_in_canada@reddit
There was an entire fleet of these painted purple and yellow that were made for the sole purpose of Hauling newspapers at 200+ MPH through the night, every night.
The reason a citroen was used was because they were areodynamic, and they put turbo under the hood to go make that speed. The engines were under so much stress that they would often have crankshaft troubles at just 200,000 km
I didn't know they also made ambulances.
monkeylabsCville@reddit
I’ve always been fascinated by this story. I feel there is a movie to be made about it…something like Smokey and the Bandit, crossed with the TV show “Taxi”….but with more berets and cheese.
RodCherokee@reddit
Yes, very famous story.
Crazy-Crocodile@reddit
Probably they were used as ambulance because of their smooth ride? They were also used as filming platforms for horse races because of this.
JCDU@reddit
Here you go, enjoy the ride:

There was also a fleet of extended CXs, that travelled daily between Brussels and Strasbourg, with all sorts of important EU documents.
Ok-Delivery216@reddit

An ambulance with hydropneumatic suspension sound like a very good idea. No matter the road conditions, the patient in the back stays leveled.
Czeslaw_Meyer@reddit
You might not like it, but this is what peak car performance looks like
ContributionDapper84@reddit
Good luck at RR grade crossings in them long ones
tadeuska@reddit
Hydropneumatic suspension with adjustable heigth. They would see no issues with ride high. Also when loaded they keep the clearance.
ranwithoutscissors@reddit
Smth smth joke about it being an ambulance and a hearse
Jlx_27@reddit
