Her costume is still on display on the 3rd floor if anyone is headed to Washington D.C. (right next to Dana Scully’s badge, for any X-Files fans)

I’d be happy to explain, Judy Garland! I don’t know if you remember the hit Ben Stiller movie Night at the Museum but if not, I’ll set the scene:

You’re hired as the nighttime security guard at a museum where all the exhibits come to life at night. You’re doing your rounds through the halls when suddenly you’re face-to-face with the living skeleton of a vicious t-Rex. There’s no escape, all hope is lost, you close your eyes and hope it will be a swift, painless death when suddenly— “Ay la la la la la la la!!” Xena flips overhead and lands in front of you with her sword drawn, Dana Scully appears to your left holding a gun, and Catwoman leaps down from the rafters and lands on the t.Rex’s head

I've seen Lucy Lawless original costume in the original country National museum in Wellington NZ together with Renée O'Connors costume and other things around 2001. I wonder if they have a second original or borrowed ot from there 🤔

The Smithsonian’s Xena costume was Lucy’s personal Xena costume from season 6, gifted to her production along with a number of alternate costumes after the show wrapped.

The two costumes at the Te Papa Museum in Wellington were donated by Ren Pics and were actually worn by Lucy and Renee’s stand-in body doubles, not Lucy and Renee themselves. They have the body doubles’ names written on the internal labels.

That being said, over the course of the series, there were dozens of costumes made. They always had backups in case of damage when filming.

oh, cool! thank you for this new information 😊🤗 I didn't know. I was simply excited being in "Xena-Country" and had my fangirl moment in 2001 in Wellington. Probably was written somewhere there but with 20 something I also probably was too lazy to read all the infos in a museum. Staring was king I suppose 😄 👀

There’s multiple that have been donated. This one in the Smithsonian looks to be her S6 costume that had 2 separate pieces. If you saw one in 2001, I’ll bet it was one of the earlier one piece dresses
