How I maintained my interior at a mega.

This is how I maintained my interior at a mega carrier. To try. Used the swiffer wetjet daily, deep clean the floors with 3d lvp cleaner with brush and sponge monthly or quarterly depending on environmental changes and regions. Wipe down dash daily during post trip clean dash with lvp cleaner and conditioner every couple months or spot clean as needed. Vacuum with a 5 hp small toolbox shaped vacuum multiple times a day. You can see some liberty’s I took with some staging of the laptop and kindle. And my fix for an eyesore on the dash. So what do you think?
Immediate_Regular@reddit
It's so clean. I'm absolutely disgusted.
Just kidding, keep it up.
TexasTango@reddit
A bunch of you must live like absolute slobs if thst cab impresses you. Thats the general cleanliness any truck should be in.
Jonas_Venture_Sr@reddit
Where do you store you piss jugs and poop socks?
Snookfilet@reddit
Poop…..socks? Do you go in them or wipe with them or what? After this many years and never pooping in the truck I have to know.
chmmr1151@reddit
You use a sock cos you ain't no toilet paper
Mindes13@reddit
Wet wipes work well
disturbedrailroader@reddit
Tradition says sock, so I use sock. Just don't use the cum sock. The last thing we need out here is you making another DOT officer.

In the pelican case. Can’t risk that trucker gold busting, it must be protected at all costs.
TruckinTuba@reddit
I kept my sleeper trucks just as clean, until I got to AK, it is impossible to keep the dust out
SecretAWP@reddit
Used to get asked if my truck was new whenever I’d go to plants and go through their security inspection, always praised for the cleanliness. Props to you, got me reminiscing of the OTR days with your pictures.
THExPILLOx@reddit
That's crazy to me. I consider myself in the top 10% of truckers because I threw away trash daily and swept and dusted weekly. You're out here scrubbing floors and vacuuming multiple times a day.
Mindes13@reddit
Driver isn't getting enough miles apparently
curiousbydesign@reddit
Or...you are lazy. :) Which is ok too. But feels like you are projecting a bit.
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
It’s really not the case, I just find the time to clean up whatever tracks into the cab as I go, be it waiting at the shipper or receiver, during drop and hooks, during my required (if under non-exception load) breaks, during my daily, mid trip inspection and post trip inspection (I exclusively haul PIH and other hazmat loads so it’s generally required or highly recommended and encouraged to do in route inspections) and anytime I have a little dwell time between dispatches
Puzzleheaded-Bag-121@reddit
It’s the mindset of 10 minutes now saves me an hour in a week that gets you here OP and let me just say I’m super impresse!
pervyjeffo@reddit
When I was running in the US I also always found time to clean my truck. With an ELD and only 11 hours of drive time allowed, I found myself with a lot of extra time I wasn't used to. But now that I'm running local in northern Alberta I never seem to have time to clean my truck.
Chamber53@reddit
Down playing a persons priority (especially if it doesn’t match yours) to keep their work area clean to their standards is a bit…I dunno but just stfu 🤫 😃
Safe_Fail_568@reddit
I can tell you’re not a flatbedder
K1d-ego@reddit
Just rolling down windows in a steel mill gets everything dusty beyond a simple clean😂
ShoebillJoe@reddit
This was my first thought too lol. Even if I had the time in the day to do everything he mentions it would still never look this clean.

yeah-no-yeah-no@reddit
This is inspiring me! Thank you. I’m gonna drag my butt outta this sleeper right now and get to vacuuming & mopping. It’s so over due. Been on my daily to-do list way for way too long.
I use the Swiffer WetJet too. Isn’t it great for the cab?! I splurged on a cordless vacuum — the Shark Cyclone. So worth it.
P.S. - looks like we have the same camo Sheetz coffee thermos.
Traditional_Ad_1360@reddit
You need to remove things you don’t need daily, all that extra weight is reflected in your reduced cargo weight. 30 years of driving, never carried more than I needed. I was able to haul more than most drivers, because I didn’t carry what I didn’t need.
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
Thanks for the suggestion. It’s all squared away
Corrupt8069@reddit
I'm not a trucker but good shit keeping the homestead clean driver
mewikime@reddit
How many gallons is that black and yellow tote?
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
Hmm I can’t remember, but it’s the normal size you can buy at Costco I think
mewikime@reddit
27 gallon then. Thanks!
TactualTransAm@reddit
Bulbasaur is the best starter ever.
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
He’ll yeah he is! Many a nights I wish he could actually use vine whip to hold the steering wheel lol.
TactualTransAm@reddit
That's awesome!!
DanEpiCa@reddit
Good job man. It's basically our home, so keeping it nice and clean is helping our mental health on the road.
I wish more drivers would take such good care of both their trucks and themselves, you're setting a good example here, keep it up.
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
Thank you!
TopDogTransport4731@reddit
That’s really clean. I bet the DOT appreciates it if they climb into your truck during inspections
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
To put it bluntly, most people are shocked.
Duchess1992@reddit
I've got 2 cats with me. I have to clean constantly or it becomes a problem
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
Ah, kitty cats. I kinda like the idea but unfortunately I can’t have pets (customer requirements not the carrier) and the dog I did have for a few years passed away. I was running too hard for having a dog on the truck I think, so she fell ill and had to be put down. But a cat, that might just work if it wasn’t for loose litter….
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
If I ever did have a pet again it would probably be an African grey or a sun conure or something lol
DrummingNozzle@reddit
I knew a trainer that made his OTR trainees use the Dustbuster cordless vacuum to clean the trainer’s truck every day
Raeezordazetoo@reddit
A+ driver right here. Always nice to see hands who take pride in their ride, no matter the name on the side.

POV: soft hands trucker
dank_memes_911@reddit
God forbid a driver actually takes care of his living space.
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
Regardless I stay out roughly 7-9 months over the road then take a month or 2 off work to vacation generally to visit my little bro in Japan and meet up with my old friends on base. Having discipline to actually clean and make my bed each day isn’t soft. Soft is letting life of the road take over and losing dignity as a result.
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
I hope you are joking.
second_chances_26@reddit
Every truck should look this good
Im_Grinning@reddit
I miss my freightliner sometimes with how much easier it was to keep clean. The 389 I’m in now has a split carpet and rubber floor. The rubber is awful to keep clean and for some reason my mechanics love to step on the clean carpet with work boots. I miss the days of house shoes inside the truck and putting on my outside shoes while getting out. Awesome job!
Fli_fo@reddit
I'm trying to be like this too. Though my work has very little waiting time. I even bring old toothrushes and toothpicks to clean the panel gaps... And soap to clean the steering wheel etc etc. Unfortunately I share the truck and the others always make a mess of it again.
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
I hear ya, every time my truck goes to the dealership or terminal shop for maintenance or repairs I gotta scrub the cockpit side to get grease out of the floor tracked in from the mechanics. And scrub the steering wheel door panels and grab bars to get that grime out. Only my home terminal and one dealership ever put floor covers seat covers down and that’s over a 2.5 year stretch going in and out of shops… so I hear your pain. Not as bad as a weekly or daily occurrence but still it’s frustrating
ArdenJaguar@reddit
My first truck out of training at a major was a recovery. Flew me to Oklahoma City and found a Volvo baby bunk at a TA. Completely covered in long dog hair. It was beyond disgusting. The dash was all sticky, probably from soda, and the dog hair stuck in it.
I wanted to quit right there but they were paying for my school. They authorized a ton on cleaning supplies and I spent about four hours cleaning it out. I sprayed everything down with cleaner and let it soak. I had to scrape the stuff off everything. I must’ve went through four rolls of paper towels.
I told dispatch I wouldn’t sleep in it as I could only imagine the shape of the mattress. They gave me a run directly back to a terminal and paid a motel one night. I wish they had cell phone cameras back then because I would’ve taken pictures.
I got an old Freightliner trainer truck then with a box bunk sleeper. Great truck.
That Volvo was 🤮.
edsavage404@reddit
That bulbasaur sticker was dope, why did you removed it?
Business_Surround_52@reddit (OP)
It’s an enamel pin I kept on my backpack. I took it off my backpack to place on that damaged area. It just happened to fit perfectly over that spot. I was just showing the damage that it was hiding
edsavage404@reddit
Ah, thought it you removed it lol
Radiant_Swan187@reddit
Fuck man. Im a slob i guess lol
