I know this was for an actual cap gun or something, but I think we also just used a hammer. No idea what the actual intended weapon looked like
blkdrgn42@reddit (OP)
Looked like a standard revolver. One side of the cylinder would swing open (up). You would load the roll on a peg, then feed the lose end around and up to where the hammer on the gun is. When you pull the trigger, the hammer would pull back and a little lever would pinch the paper against a wall and then push it up as you continue to squeeze until the hammer fell against the powder pocket.
Unfortunately, for the ones I used anyway, that pinch lever wouldn't always advance the paper the right amount and I'd start getting duds every shot because the hammer was falling between the pockets. And then we would resort to the hammer.
marbotty@reddit
Ah yes, that’s right
TinyGIR@reddit
I had a few guided-bomb type things where you'd tear off one section, align it under the hammer that would strike it when the bomb landed nose-down, and go off with a massive CRACK. I never had the plastic ones like in the post picture, I only ever saw the used ones.
avb1986@reddit
Oh wow, that brings back memories
PokerbushPA@reddit
Pfft...amateurs. We used our fingernails!
YouHadTheHighGround@reddit
Ballsy move. We had a "gun" made from a couple of sticks with a rubber band to pull the "hammer" down lol
Daped01@reddit
We used rocks

Never thought I’d see this again

Right? That's how I felt when I saw the OP.

I miss those

Cock ring?
blkdrgn42@reddit (OP)
I just had a looney toons style visual similar to the exploding cigar pop into my head. And I may have snorted at work because of it. LMAO
Eggsaladinurmouth@reddit
From a cap gun
AdministrativeFlan76@reddit
I preferred these type of caps to the paper ones. I would always end up with duds.
Darkest_Rahl@reddit
Nah, the smell and burn marks on your finger from firing off the paper ones are where it's at
blkdrgn42@reddit (OP)
I hit an entire roll of the paper ones once with a hammer. Broke the hammer and my ears rang for a little while afterwards. I preferred these after that incident. Lol
RumblestheDwarf@reddit
I am glad I'm not the only one who did that.
MmmSteaky@reddit
Oh, I did that waaay more than once. Also liked to lay a strip of them flat and run the edge of a quarter across it. (Or just one at a time with my thumb.)
blkdrgn42@reddit (OP)
Never did the quarter trick. Might have some the thumb thing once or twice... Lol
honestrade@reddit
The paper ones kind of sucked.
massunderestmated@reddit

I can smell that photo
CaptainFuzzyBootz@reddit
I love some odd smells but this always instantly made me nauseous
TheAskewOne@reddit
Can hear it too.
Pattison320@reddit
Interesting to find that they are a risk for lead contamination. The caps contain lead styphnate similar to actual gun primers.
bassman314@reddit
I mean that’s pretty much what they are.
AvidCyclist250@reddit
about to say. thats one heck of memory

Ooh... this picture makes me feel powerful. Finding a stray round meant I'd be randomly "armed" & could catch my brother by surprise! 😄
wrel_@reddit
At least the 3rd time someone reposted this here.
blkdrgn42@reddit (OP)
Sorry, not terminally online and hadn't seen it there yet.

Neither am I, but thanks for going right to personal attacks, I guess.

Wasn't meant to be a personal attack.
