Teaser video on her Twitter.
Mexico's working on making a mini EV family with three versions: a two seater motorcycle replacement, a four seater for a rickshaw replacement, and a panel van.
It looks like they're going to cost between MX$90,000–150,000, or 5000–8500 USD. Production is supposed to start next year.

Doors?

Where we’re going, we don’t need doors. ✨

They're heavily limiting Chinese automakers doing their business in their country, and American automakers don't care small city car market. I think this's a good chance for them doing their own automaker.

VERY much so. a lot of coal and natural resources are untapped in MX. The only limiting factor is their civil law vs common law legal framework.

Wow!.. They invented the K car.

Considering how many cars Mexico makes its honestly surprising how few the they design.
Even if this one looks like a mini VW.

The video show why it's not surprising.

VW, BMW, Ford, and Stellantis have significant presence there from a manufacturing perspective. It's weird that there are effectively no indigenous Mexican car companies.

If the range is at least 80 miles, this thing could be wildly successful

The 4 door Wuling Mini EV seems to be a very similar in size/price and gets about 120 miles of range on the Chinese cycle
Dragonasaur@reddit
What about any other slightly more realistic cycle?
niftyjack@reddit (OP)
The Chinese cycle is probably pretty applicable to Mexico considering these will be lower speed rural road/city cars

Neat

This is AI generated, look at the b-pillar.

The article I linked is an older article with more project info before there was an actual design, the official look is in the teaser video

Ah, thanks, I didn't catch the date.
The Sheinbaum design is more interesting, but I have my doubts they'll start production next year. Expect to see it pushed to 2028 at the very least. Still good to see them making some sort of progress.
