Are there any decent quality AR’s I can get for $1000-lower, or would it make more sense to just build my own rifle at that point?

Uh yeah. Search the sub… this is asked multiple times a day. lol
Shoddy-Pumpkin2939@reddit (OP)
“this is asked multiple times a day.” ☝️🤓 alright bro
Sensitive_Box_@reddit
Yeah, you just need to use that huge search bar at the top. You’ll find hundreds of options and opinions on the topic. There’s also a website called YouTube where you can learn all about ARs! The internet is so cool!
ThinkGear568@reddit
Gosh. Why evrn have this subreddit if people can't even ask gun questions
Sensitive_Box_@reddit
“wHaT FiRsT gun ShUoLd I GeT?”
ThinkGear568@reddit
And on every gun forum there's a guy like you always going "jUsT uSe tHe sEaRcH, tHiS hAs aLrEaDy bEeN aSkeD"
What's the point of discussion forums then? We should all just browse archives and never discuss anything I guess.
Sensitive_Box_@reddit
And there’s also always the guy that intentionally ignores the nuance of this topic. lol
This is not what OP did, or what he said. He asked an open ended question that is brought up daily, and then literally didn’t respond in his thread a single time.
ThinkGear568@reddit
Ok well I guess the mods can do that if they want, but what does making several posts complaining about the question accomplish? Isn't that just as useless as the question that was asked, if not more so? You're basically complaining about someone clogging up the forum while you yourself are also clogging up the forum with useless posts, doesn't make sense. You could always, you know, just not participate in the discussion if the question doesn't interest you?
Sensitive_Box_@reddit
I didn’t make multiple posts… this is also not a post, it’s a comment section.
You’re literally doing that right now.
ThinkGear568@reddit
Yes I am, but I'm not the one who cares about clogging up the subreddit, you are. I couldn't care less how many dumb questions are asked or how many posts/comments are made. Just curious why some people feel the need to tell others "you can't post this or that" when all you had to do was not participate in the discussion and allow those who wanted to discuss the topic discuss it.
Sensitive_Box_@reddit
I wasn’t telling anyone not to post. Im just saying that more people need to do an amount of research on their own, before attempting to summon the Reddit-bot-army to do their homework for them. It’s becoming way too common for people to use Reddit as if it’s their own personal AI assistant. lol

The good thing about building your own is that you can include all the parts you actually want (trigger, grip, big, barrel, etc.) And none of the junk you don't want.
BoxofCurveballs@reddit
I am a firm believer that replacing all the shit you dontlike on your rifle is a right of passage of sorts
MightyLabooshe@reddit
I agree, it is a rite of passage. And part of it is buying shit that doesn't work or you don't need. That teaches you to buy once and cry once.
LunchboxKovacs@reddit
Only casuals don't customize their AR(s)
Drunk_Catfish@reddit
You can "build" with just buying a complete upper and lower for under $1000 and get exactly what you might want, but IWI, Ruger, S&W, or any other major manufacturers have decent enough offerings for ARs under $1000.
StressfulRiceball@reddit
This. All 3 mentioned make great entry level (NOT budget) rifles.
And they're all great bases to build from.
Mundane_Adeptness_26@reddit
I second the IWI. Some can be found on sale for 6-700$
UniqueNewYork3xFast@reddit
Same with the sport 3
OmericanAutlaw@reddit
buy it secondhand. no need to send more of your money to israel when you don’t have to
NauticalClam@reddit
Specifically that s and w is a great deal
HeughJanus@reddit
$1200 ddm4v7 or $700 blem bcm upper with $120 psa lower
Sensitive_Box_@reddit
Mine was $900. Paired it with an Anderson lower. Cheapest DD possible, for the memes.
moistenednougat@reddit
Smith and Wesson, Colt or stock model FNs are going to give you great value for the money.
LunchboxKovacs@reddit
Define "decent quality." Yes, you can get one in that price range thats reliable and fun to shoot, but don't expect better than 2 - 3 MOA with even match ammo. Anyone that says they do better than that with a sub $1k AR off the shelf is either lying, doesn't measure groups properly, or has a unicorn of an entry level AR
ExplanationMaster634@reddit
Plenty if you aren’t a “gun” snob and you can get ammo to
FortyMaximus@reddit

imneuromancer@reddit
You can get a bravo company upper for around 800, and a PSA lower or similar for 100 or 150. Add the charging handle you want and maybe different furniture and you are right around $1000 for a pretty good rifle
Proof_Bathroom_3902@reddit
You could build 3 decent ARs for a grand.
IanKelsonMD@reddit
I bought my FN for $700 in the box. Plenty of good shit already out there.
Leptonshavenocolor@reddit
You can put together a PSA AR for a little as 400$
Mountain_Man_88@reddit
Yeah you can get 2.5 decent ARs for $1000.

ALG Defense El Jefe was around $900 last time I check. Just throw a different optic on it. Has quite a few nice Geissele pieces in it. I won one and put an LPVO on it, thinkg is very soft shooting and accurate.

I’ve had a Ruger AR556 for about ten years now with no complaints. Though it was only $500 back the.

marc_879@reddit
Not going to direct link, but Brownells also has Complete colt uppers in stock for less than the BCM I mentioned above.
marc_879@reddit
For a quality but budget minded build that would also be a great base for customization later
Stripped lower (any quality brand)
BCM mid length upper with FSP, no rail.
Mil Spec charging handle if you want to save some cash
Fixed rear sight such as the DD1.5 A1 or Midwest Industries
BCM polymer hand guards
BCM receiver extension and stock (should come with a castle nut and end plate)
BCM LPK (comes with a decent trigger and grip)
Magpul 2pt sling and lots of mags. Should keep you around your budget and will have a quality build.

I have a Fostech Flite Eagle that’s about to go up on action.
Used a total of 3 times, the entire gun is titanium, so it’s super light weight. Besides that, the whole gunshop paused until everyone held it lol.
Send me a dm and I can send you a link. Comes with a bunch of goodies too.
🙌
Background_Wrap9472@reddit
You can get a Daniel defense 10.5 right now for $1100 if you wanna bump up your budget slightly
SPECTREagent700@reddit
If you buy the upper and lower separately you save money by avoiding the excise tax on complete firearms.
