Upgrade Help: 4070 for 32 inch 4k gaming? Downscale to 1440p?

Hello,
I am planning to upgrade my monitor first, as I saw a good deal on a 32-inch 4K OLED monitor. I have a 4070 graphics card, 32 GB RAM, and a 12th-gen i5 CPU. Can my setup even run a 32-inch 4K game with stable FPS for single-player AAA games?
Secondly, I sometimes play competitive FPS too, but when I do, I don't care about the graphics. In that setting, can I switch my display to 1440p so I can maintain 140+ fps there? How will 1440p even look on a 32-inch native 4K monitor? Is that even advisable?
For reference, I currently run a 27-inch 1440p and consistently get 120+ FPS on max settings on all games I've tried. How big a difference will I feel if I upgrade my monitor, and if I want to maintain the same fps rate I'm used to, what else should I upgrade and to what?
Thank you!

4070 is definitely a 1440p card rather than 4K, at least for newer games, but you can try 4K with DLSS Performance or Ultra Performance. I’d go for 1440p though (speaking as an owner of 5070 + 1440p 180Hz monitor)

Just run more aggressive DLSS modes or lower settings, obviously your rig is not enough to make full use of the monitor but it's goning to look better that whatever LCD trash you have rn.
With DLSS scaling is no longer a issue. 1440p upscaled to 4K will still look sharper and than 1440p native

For single single player games, most likely they will support DLSS. If you were not already using DLSS on your current setup, the loss of FPS won’t be that significant. (That being said, your claim that you can max out every game you play at 1440p 120fps let me feel you may not be really playing the truly demanding games)
Set games to 1440p works but it is usually not recommended. Competitive games tends to be less demanding on graphics so I don’t see 4070 having issue hitting native 4K 140+ fps for most of them

Yes u can, but not downscaled for 1440p but 1080p

If it's that good of a deal then it's probably worth it just for media consumption alone, you can think about optimizing it for your game later. I can tell you're quite set on this purchase so just go for it.
