Need advice on SSDs for OS

I already have a pc with a Kingtson NV1 1TB ssd which has windows on it and my motherboard is an Asus prime Z590-P. I'm looking to install linux as a dual boot with windows and use linux as my primary os, but my C drive is already full. Instead of cleaning it from files I don't need anymore and still not having a lot of space for linux, I'm thinking of buying a new ssd and plugging it on my motherboard for linux only. Though from the asus website, the top spot is PCIe 4.0 while the others are PCIe 3.0, so I should install move my windows ssd to a PCIe 3.0 port and install my new linux ssd on the 4.0 port or will that fuck up my windows installation?

It doesn't matter which slot you use, Gen3 vs Gen4 realistically isn't going to make a noticeable difference for OS.
If you do move it, simply check BIOS to make sure the boot order is correct and it'll work just fine.

So it's safe to unplug it and plug it elsewhere?

Sure, or just leave it as is and add another SSD. Makes no difference mate.
