Looking to buy a pistol for my son. Anyone have any budget friendly suggestions?

Wholly this! You can shoot about 100 22 shells for $5. If bought in bulk, 9mm would be $23 for 100 shells. He can develop good habits & become a real marksman.

Take your son to a LGS with a range. Rent a few sidearms and see which one he likes best.

M&P 9mm compact. Full version is good too but can't conceal carry it if that's your goal. Smashed my nuts when I try. Compact is the perfect size.

SAR9 has a great reputation and is inexpensive. I like mine better than my Glock and it is far less expensive. Palmetto State Armory is advertising a good discount on a nice Smith and Wesson 9mm. I got an email about it today. It will be on their website under Deals.
