Teams taking over functionality on iphones

First I admit this is tangentially a sys admin issue. But today after a lot of iPhone users updated their work phones to the latest iOS teams seems to making itself the default app for FaceTime and cell calls, which if they aren't lisc for teams voip just shits the bed.
We've tested on a phone going into several default locations to change the defaults back to FaceTime/cell but even after these changes when clicking on a contact and selecting FaceTime some contacts still use teams.
Uninstalling teams seems to resolve the issue, but isn't a functional option.
Anyone else dealing with this, or resolved it as scale?

I just had this issue. We download Teams on their iphone, when trying to facetime through contacts it defaults to Teams instead of Facetime. Every setting is set to not have teams. Going through google it seems Teams constantly breaks Facetime on iphone and mac. The actual facetime app works fine but from contacts it defaults to teams for no reason.

Im having the same issue! Totally out of the blue and even deleting the app doesnt fix it

I have never experienced this. I install Teams on iPads and iPhones daily, and have never seen the default calling app change afters teams installs or updates. iPhone will treat a Teams call like a phone call, displaying a missed Teams call as a missed call regardless.
Phone Settings>Apps>Teams>Default Calling App> change to Cellular
OR
Settings>Apps>Phone>Default Calling App> change to Cellular

I hadn't either, but if you Google it, you'll see there quite a number of results of people with a similar situation. this seems to be solely related to the newest update so I don't think it have been happening all that long either way

Just happened to me yesterday.

Just setup a new iPhone 16e, activated it, Intune pushed Teams so the app installed almost immediately, and i cannot replicate this issues.

It definitely did it for me a couple of days ago, but as of now it is not doing it any more. I have no explanation for why, but I tried to dial my daughter from her Contact listing, and it tried to open Teams twice, I finally had to place a video call which then went through Apple FaceTime.

I’ve never had this problem. I’m on the newest teams update as well. I wasn’t able to find much about it on Google other than its AI that’s often wrong.
