Double hearing protection required on the flight line, at least in the US military. Until you go on deployment and people are lax on the rules.
I was carrying some equipment to the aircraft and couldn’t hear anyone around, then out of no where two F-15s come around a corner and taxi by me before I could get my headphones on. I have always worn double ear pro the flight line ever since.
