Which holiday destinations do you find yourself revisiting and what keeps you going back?

Saw a video of people in Benidorm saying they visit 3 times or so a year because it’s cheap and they like the drinking and social aspect of it.
Thought I would ask which other destinations people frequent and what keeps you going back instead of trying somewhere new?
Medical-Fox2471@reddit
I couldn’t go back to the same place all the time
Would do my head in
Icy_Mixture1482@reddit
It’s about half and half to me. 50% of destinations are completely new and 50% are favourite places.
It’s so nice arriving at the airport, knowing exactly which metro to take, knowing which hotels are good, where’s good for food, hitting up people you drank with in a bar last time.
EyeAware3519@reddit
Same. I know people who go to the same place every year and haven't really been anywhere else. Each to their own I suppose. Unfortunately I am running out of places that are close and affordable to go to.
Icy_Mixture1482@reddit
I’ve been to Vietnam 8 times.
Mostly smaller towns like Da Nang that aren’t so stressful as HCM or Hanoi.
I love the ambiance, the friendly locals, the coffee, the food, the cost of living.
When I travel, it’s about 50:50 new places to familiar places. They both have advantages. But Vietnam is definitely my favourite place to revisit.

I've been to Japan twice and would go back again and again if I could afford it
Fish_Minger@reddit
I've been to 80 countries and consider myself an experienced traveler. The only country that I've visited multiple times per year recently is Thailand. So much to see and so much to do.
LoonIsland@reddit
what are your highlights?
sleepyprojectionist@reddit
The only place I have ever visited multiple times is Orlando, purely because I love rollercoasters.
It’s too expensive to go regularly, especially since I’m not in a well-paid job, I’m single and I live alone.
I have been tempted to visit a few European theme parks when I have a few quid spare.
Jenpot@reddit
Can really recommend Efteling and Toverland, both in the Netherlands, if you decide to go.
sleepyprojectionist@reddit
Efteling has been on my radar for a while. I love how many trippy original attractions they still have.
I’d also love to do Europa Park and Fantasialand in Germany and Parc Astérix in France.
I’m still kicking myself for not going to Canada’s Wonderland when I had the opportunity in 2019.
rockdecasba@reddit
My pledge this year is to only go new places. Been to Berlin about 8 times. Very tempted to go Toulouse again this year.

Bali. Iceland and Ireland.
bennettbuzz@reddit
Majorca, literally here now. When our local airport flys 2 times a day every day of the year it’s just an easy option when you need a quick getaway.
iloovehugecock@reddit
Maspalamos. The horny gays keep me coming back.

Japan. I want to go back to a specific region for Italy, but that's the only other place. I went to Japan for the first time late 24 solo, loved every second.
Italy region is north lake garde
GeggingIn@reddit
Lanzarote. Hot, exciting wind, volcanic landscapes quite arty and reasonably good value.
neuronez@reddit
I love Lanzarote, I’ve been there almost every summer for the last 10 years.
Sometimes I feel bad that I don’t try other places, but given that I know Lanzarote is guaranteed to be great I end up not risking it.
GeggingIn@reddit
Nah, you should go anywhere on your holidays that makes you happy and you enjoy.
GeggingIn@reddit
Food is really nice too.

Any Swede women with big heads?
GeggingIn@reddit
Bloody hell, that’s an old reference.
BigfatDan1@reddit
Barmouth in Wales for a UK holiday, the wife has been going annually since she was a child, and her parents before her too.
Abroad is probably Cala Bona in Majorca, it's a quiet fishing village with a small harbour, a few bars and restaurants and a lovely beach. Perfect to go and switch off for the week.
Done Benidorm a few times too, a fun, cheap weekend in the sun
buy_me_a_pint@reddit
I been to Greece a number of times as well as a number of other countries etc
A number of places as part of a cruise.
No-Snow-9605@reddit
Tenerife is our place of choice, 40+ visits do far. Been to plenty of other destinations but never tire of Tenerife.
EasyCheesecake1@reddit
Berlin, I keep discovering new areas as it is one of the biggest and colourful urban sprawls in the world.
Zealousideal-Habit82@reddit
I'm currently on the Bodrum peninsula and I've been coming here sometimes twice a year since 2011. It's now a home from home, I will be going to other countries this year too but now I'm in my 50's I just like the path of least resistance.
crackerlackers@reddit
I wouldn't, the world's a big place.
The idea of visiting exactly the same resort for the exactly the same holiday year after year depresses me.
SnooJokes5693@reddit (OP)
Have you never been to a place you’d want to see a second time though?
811545b2-4ff7-4041@reddit
Certain cities, definitely. Florence, Rome, Amsterdam, Barcelona. Oddly though, I've been to NYC a few times and I'm a bit bored of it.
There is a nice resort in Tenerife (Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora) I could revisit quite a bit; but generally we don't do 'beach resort' holidays. I do believe they have a sister hotel in Benidorm too !
WGD23@reddit
Cornwall, best of the UK (well Scotland too, but Cornwall's closer to me). I love the coast, the history & culture, the pasties.
Spain I can visit over and over, quite a lot of diversity once away from the resorts and it always strikes me as a better way of life.
Turkey, again a fascinating place, east meets west, at the crossroads of civilisations, the birthplace of settled man, great fucking kebabs and I like Raki too. Just need a change of leadership.
Blackpool, rock.
Spanner1993@reddit
Croatia and Mallorca. Short flight, perfect climate for my personal preference, food suits my palate, incredibly beautiful old towns and amazing nature reserves.
Not exclusively but definitely the greatest hits.
Btd030914@reddit
Cala en Porter in Menorca has always been my go to, sometimes twice a year. Lovely chilled place, hire a villa, total relaxation in the sun for a week.
Mental_Body_5496@reddit
Mid Wales holiday estate - went at least once if not twice a year from 13 to 50 !
Gold-Collection2636@reddit
I don't know if this one fully counts because it's lots of different islands, but I spent most of my childhood holidays in various places in Greece. My parents loved the weather, the history, the food, the drink, the scenery. I haven't been since I was 10 and I'm hoping to go back next year
SnooJokes5693@reddit (OP)
That sounds like it would’ve been nice. Out of the different islands did you have a favourite?
Alternative_Net_2262@reddit
Prague, there's always something different to do everytime I go there
DevilishlyHandsome63@reddit
I couldn't keep going to the same place, that's why I've never understood people who buy a property abroad for holidays, or a time share. I'd be bored out of my mind with the repetition.
DeafeninglySilent@reddit
I always said I wouldn't visit the same place twice, however my fiancé and I discovered a collection of island off the western coast of France and absolutely fell in love.
We've visited different islands numerous times and they'll always be our special place. We fell in love with the charm, serenity, and food and we are planning to go back this summer when our baby has arrived 🥰
SarkyMs@reddit
I said the same but I went to the Alpujarras (Spain) and fell in love.
PleasantCucumber2615@reddit
I like to see new things. Going to the same place all the time, or Benidorm, doesn't interest me at all.
I don't understand why so many British people love the Spanish resorts. They spend 50 weeks a year complaining about Britain, then spend two weeks trying to find British pubs, British food, and British people they'd ignore at home. 😂
goodarmsvsbadarms@reddit
It's the weather
goodarmsvsbadarms@reddit
I try to sprinkle new places in sometimes, but for me the appeal of going to the same place multiple times is because holidays can be very expensive, and if you've just spent a few grand plus a good chunk of your annual leave, it's less risky to go somewhere you know you already like
